and it looks like Hudson will be back soon.
Quote : | "“He’s ready to go,” Cox said of Hudson, who is 10 months into what is typically a 12-month rehabilitation from ligament-transplant elbow surgery. “He’s really come along. He’s got major-league stuff right now, his normal stuff.”" |
Looks like he's gonna throw a Rehab start on July 19th at Myrtle Beach if anyone will be in the area.

good. now never start kelly johnson, and trade like Vazquez for Ty Wigginton (pretty solid hitter who can play everywhere) and I'll be happy. 7/3/2009 12:26:41 AM |

I think we should make a run at Juan Pierre. Now that Manny's back, the dodgers dont need him and I bet we could get him at a decent price if three isnt to much competition for him. 7/3/2009 8:44:58 AM |

Juan Pierre is a 31-year old with a career OPS of .720 who is making $10,000,000 this year. I have my doubts about that strategy. 7/3/2009 9:56:57 AM |

why would we want to trade Javier Vazquez? I don't get this deal Vazquez parade thats going on. His contract is high so we wouldn't really get anything for him value wise. Hudson isn't exactly healthy now. We've gone the last 4 years with crap at the end of the rotation, it wouldn't hurt to have depth 7/3/2009 7:10:53 PM |

and God no, no Juan Pierre. Only if the Dodgers pay a chunk of his salary. Matt Holliday maybe, but we aren't in a very good position to trade for a one year rental right now. 7/3/2009 7:14:11 PM |

2/3 from the Cubs, only 2 games under .500. A couple more wins and they'll be almost exactly where I thought they would be going into the AS break... but they'll probably blow these next 3.
Apparently all you need to do is bench KJ

^well, in KJ's defense, we're still not producing any runs. Thank god our pitching was dominant these past two games. We just don't have any power. We're a singles team 7/8/2009 6:12:53 PM |
BJCaudill21 Not an alcoholic 8015 Posts user info edit post |
i was gonna say 4 is decent, but they did score those last two on an error and wild pitch right? so that kinda sucks still.
But yeah, I know we're not a good offensive team (and not having Chipper for the weekend probably sure isn't gonna help anything) but they should be able to score runs. There's no bad hitter out there, but I hope the pitching can carry them into a wild card spot. Oh well, I'm sure they'll hang on just long enough to get my hopes up and then crumble late. 7/8/2009 6:25:28 PM |

^i agree that when you look at our Batting Averages....they're not terrible or bad even. But when our leadoff hitter is leading the team in HR's......thats why we're not scoring many runs. You can have a lineup full of .300 guys, but if they're all singles/doubles hitters....they're not gonna score as many runs 7/8/2009 6:44:58 PM |

Solution: Trade Francoeur and a starting pitcher for Adam Dunn.7/8/2009 9:35:42 PM |
BJCaudill21 Not an alcoholic 8015 Posts user info edit post |
I don't dislike it. We'd be worse defensively, but that would have to help the offense a lot. Maybe it would help Chipper and McCann hit a little better too. Depending on which pitcher, it might hurt a little, but Hudson coming back soon could help ease the pain.
Whatever they do... they should get somebody. 7/8/2009 9:54:02 PM |
maverick31 Veteran 413 Posts user info edit post |
yeah thats assuming huddy is on his way and which pitcher to trade is the big question... thats why they dont pay me the big bucks to make these decisions. 7/8/2009 9:57:44 PM |
BJCaudill21 Not an alcoholic 8015 Posts user info edit post |
well the deadline is july 31, so hudson will pitch in MB next sunday. they might have an idea of how sharp he is. he could throw 3 times before the deadline and be ready to join the team.
I'm sure nobody would want to trade for Lowe since he's like 36, and he hasn't really been that great anyways. Although he would be better than anybody on the Nats. Kawakami is 34, and probably would be better than most Nats but I dunno if anybody would want him. And I don't think theres any way you can trade Vazquez, Medlen, Hanson, Jurrjens, Hudson..
But maybe somebody would take Francoeur and one of Lowe/Kawakami for a good power hitter. Maybe Luke Scott, Adam Dunn... sign Barry Bonds..

Nats have said they are not trading Dunn.
I am really happy that Prado has stepped up. It is great that he can pratically be in the lineup daily since he can play at least 3 positions. Maybe even put him leadoff and move McClouth down to 2nd.
What to do about our pitching??? Our pitching has been great and we would have more wins if we could score more runs. However we will have a glutton of starting pitchers when Hudson returns. We won't be able to trade Lowe and I do not think trading Kawakami will be possible since it keeps the doors to Japan open to get future talent. JJ and Hanson are untouchable. So that leaves Vasquez the only possible SP that we could even think about trading. He has a no-trade clause for AL/NL west teams though.
Now that Prado has stepped up and Diaz is playing RF well we could try to trade KJ and JF. We could throw in one of our relievers with one of them and possibly get a decently powered bat. However the braves can't take on any more salary.
Going to go see them next week against the Mets. Got really good seats too 7/9/2009 11:10:28 AM |
