If you like coaching feuds, then watch UConn-Kentucky tonight from MSG. Calhoun and Calipari fucking HATE each other. Everyone tries to ask about their "relationship" and both of them say they simply have none, but it's deeper than that. It goes back a long time, to the 80's, when Calipari took over UMass and made them good enough to vacate a Final Four appearance. He started taking pot shots at UConn left and right and using some malicious recruiting tactics.

They've only played once since he left UMass (two years ago when Cal had Rose and they vacated their Final Four appearance).

Kemba Walker and John Wall should be pretty fun to watch -- two quickest guards in the country IMO. Kemba will be playing in his backyard against a guy that everyone thinks will own him -- hopefully he'll be pretty good, which he hasn't been so far this year for the most part.

N.C. State left its former home, Reynolds Coliseum, a decade ago to start former coach Herb Sendek's third season at the helm.

The Wolfpack made the move from a 12,400-seat gym to the RBC Center and its 19,722 capacity. It's been tough to fill, according to a report in The News & Observer.

According to the paper, N.C. State's first two home games this season drew less than 11,000 fans, and in 18 homes games last season, the average attendance was down to 13,436, compared with 16,535 for its inaugural season. During that span, the Wolfpack have been as far as the Sweet 16 only once and missed the Tourney altogether six times.

Sendek, now the coach at Arizona State, told Raleigh's mayor at the time that the move would be "an unmitigated disaster for our basketball program if you get us out there. Please. And don't build this thing bigger than 17,500 or we won't be able to fill it."

Having attended games at the expanded/renovated Allen Fieldhouse, I wish we had done a similar solution at Reynolds (raise the roof and expand within the existing structure). Of course, I think the combination of plenty of corporate LSRs and Athletics not providing any viable automated ticket exchange/ticket giveaway system has more to do with our attendance numbers than the size of the arena. We have been selling out for the most part, but it looks horrible because we have so many no-shows (especially in the lower deck).

If the Gale Force ushers wouldn't block people from moving down to the lower deck, it wouldn't look nearly as bad on TV. Heck, I have been to games at Wake where they invite people to move down to the lower bowl 10 minutes in. State is one of the few places to consistently have a full upper deck and a half-empty lower deck.
