I have one of the old 30GB in black, still going strong, I use it in the car and as a mp3 player to my home theater system. I'd use it while traveling as well, but now that I have a Droid, I doubt I'll use it much.

^I used my 30 gb Zune while snowboarding, so I wouldn't fuck up anything of real value. Needless to say, by the end of the season, it permanently shit the bed.

I've used tons of these devices trying to decide what I want to spend the actual time developing for and now that they've added Xvid codec support I think I'm sold on buying a personal use device. Since I have close to 3TB worth of videos already in Xvid I'm thinking they've sold me

^hahaha, no. I didn't even think of that post implying that.

I'm in the content creation biz. HD video eats my space like candy, so when we're done with a project we keep the finished file rendered down to Xvid in 720p (how convenient!?) just for advertising and stuff.

The only thing on that drive that's not mine was a 700MB copy of Surrogates a buddy sent along that I watched last night. Fairuse Wizard+FTP server is WAY easier than driving 4 hours to borrow a DVD. The other 2.6GB is all work

But if you've got one to sell/trade, I'm your man. I'd like to have one in my hands this weekend.

I think this device will be supplemented by the Windows Phone 7 products that come out this fall, along with (hopefully) some apps.

I hate to say it but my Droid has replaced my Zune for portable media, I keep my Zune 30 docked and plugged into my home theater setup now and maybe take it for long trips.

I'm debating upgrading my Zune once I'm back in the US.

I wonder why Microsoft hasn't entered the Japanese market with the Zune. My students ask me about it all the time when I use it in class and seem to really like it.

^eh, it works well for me. Browser is solid, facebook and twitter apps, and Zune pass. I got the thing to listen to music. If I needed a bazillion of useless apps to blow cash on, well, I would have changed that decision.
