Can't tell who is a troll and who is just retarded in this thread. Coaching is like a slot machine where you pull the lever every two seconds hoping that the bcs falls in your lap. You build. We have enough guys out this season with injuries to make one side of a team and have substitutions. Do you people really think that TOB is remotely scared for his job? So we haven't had the bs breaks that bitch davis and his goons have. We never will. We're state. We have to fight for every inch. But if we start getting into the coaching carousel we'll never get out.

^^^so now we can say, at least we lost close games before!!!! dumbest reasoning ever. we still lost MORE games. I'd rather go 9-3 and get blown out three times than go 7-5 and lose all five close.

and I don't care that Amato MAY have been the first person to CONTACT Wilson (we don't know that for sure). TOB was the guy that had to close the deal, which is even harder for him after a coaching change and then Wilson would have no relationship with the current staff.

At least in close losses I can still be optimistic that a slight tweak here or there might change the overall outcome for us in future games. Having our opponents put up 45 points EVERY GAME doesn't exactly instill much hope in the future. I don't see any hope in this defense, especially with Archer. We have to start scoring 60 points per game to hope for a win.

the first person to contact wilson was the baseball coach

he told chuck about wilson. chuck offered wilson a football scholarship. tob had to re-recruit wilson like lowe had to re-recruit dennis horner. RW came here because we were the best football school that would let him play baseball (the only other one was Duke). None of our past or current football coaches deserve much credit for that

^^fair enough, but at least that proves my point that TOB did have to re-recruit him. sounds like we were prob. going to be his choice all along though.

and that was that.

Haha Skip Holtz. I dare say if we had played ECU this year like we should have, we would have still beaten them. The only game Skip won was the game after the UNC game where Chuck was fired and our players played like shit because of it. I think Ant Hill (?) or some player was heard admitting they put nothing into that game.

This is the only post on the last page that needs repeating:

Quote :
"we have had SO much success running coaches off in the past and then even MORE success hiring their replacements.

we are already a laughing stock in the basketball community because of herb"

If we are still in this situation in 2 years, then bring the possible coaches up. Until then just relax and have a beer.

Sorry, but lose out and it's the first time NC State has ever gone 1-7 in ACC play. It will also be the first time since the early 50s that the program has had four straight losing seasons. Plus it will be the 5th in 6 years. TOB probably won't get canned, but the writing is definitely on the wall, esp. if Archer is retained.

You going to talk shit about Chuck then you need to put it in perspective.

how is this not at the top?

Having the worst season in school history in a year where you had the talent to compete for an acc title?

unforgivable...

and don't try to justify the incompetent coaching staff by blaming the players. coaches are responsible for the players. everything that happens goes on the coaches. bottom line.

injuries/depth go on the coaching staff as well. We are obviously doing something wrong if all of our players leave practice injured.

I wish I could say it was a fluke. Injuries are no excuse for the way we have played this season. Not to mention, a decent coach should be able to at least do something with his second string players if all his "talent" is injured.

all teams have injuries, hell, Tennessee has had half their offensive line made up of walk-ons all year, are on a 3rd/4th string walk-on at MLB, had their top two receivers hurt at the beginning of the year, etc.

let's say those db's improve 25% next year, which I think is what a good coach should expect of young players.

So we give up 10-15 less points per game.

RW is going to leave, and our offense will not improve. 10-15 out of 40-50 points given up will still yield a sub .500 season. I am not certain we will have a winning season in the next five years. TOB may work in the long, long term, but he is not going to have a winning team until 2012 or later. There are too many problems across the board with this shit team.

injuries are the dumbest excuse ever, and i cant believe people still bring it up. We've had THIRTEEN starters go out every year of TOBs tenure. It's year 3. When do we start expecting that, not using it as a reason the team sucks? Sure, Nate's was a fluke. But when you're talking about 80 players, fluke injuries happen. ACLs happen. You deal with it

With that said, no reason to be pissed off about today's game. This was inevitable. The half I watched wasn't even coached that poorly. Now, I wish they wouldve gotten Glennon some more reps once the score got ridiculous, but whatever. Credibility static

[Edited on November 21, 2009 at 6:28 PM. Reason : ^ yea, and thats why im most pissed off about this year. THIS was their chance, and its gone]
