we lost, to a not very good arizona team....but they fought like motherfuckers, and they improved in the 2nd half. for that, im not too awfully angry at this game

every single person associated with that FSN production should be fired... they should not let an AZ grad be commentating unless they've been in the business for awhile... the cameraman shouldn't pan into the bench if the game is not over like that, the producers shouldn't have let it happen, the play by play guy called the game before it was over, and nic wise was very close to being up on the press table facing the crowd before the buzzer had sounded.

Thoughts:

-Javi has turned into more than just serviceable. He's playing lights out. He's a guy you can't help but like.
-Painter seems to do something awful every time he's in the game. He might be good one day, but he's sure as hell not right now.
-We might have something in Howell. He showed the skill set we all knew he had tonight.
-Vandenberg alters every shot in the paint and is surprisingly aggressive on the boards. He's heavy-footed as hell, but I like what I saw out of him.
-Hopefully Wood is starting to get some confidence back. Made a few clutch shots tonight.
-Horner on the perimeter=good. Horner in the paint=bad. We needed him to step up tonight and he played one of his worst games of the year.
-Can we PLEASE MOVE MAYS TO 2G. He can contribute, just not at PG.

I'm pretty pleased with how this team closed out the game. We played some awful basketball early on, had 3 freshmen playing in the paint, and were without our best player. Not too much to be mad about.

seriously guys.........the paint was being manned by Howell, Vandenburg and Painter. What the fuck were you expecting? Before the season i said that as long as we show improvement in games and throughout the season, i will be happy. IF you guys didn't see improvement b/t the first and 2nd halves, then you are fucking blind.

And those complaining about CJ and Julius playing this year.......CJ had a pretty good game tonight. I'm with whoever says Julius should never see the floor again. He'll hit one or two 3's every now and then, but other than that he is useless. Next year our lineup should be:

PG: Javi/Harrow
SG: CJ/LO Brown
SF: Wood/Davis
PF: Howell/Painter/Cothron
C: Smith/Vandenburg

who isn't excited about that kinda lineup? Also....if we get CJ Leslie, you can throw him in at Small Forward.

you will never be a good shooter if you are tentative about the shot just before you catch it. as wood did in that big shot he hit, he went up knowing he was open and knowing he was going to shoot it.

wish we had won, but not too pissed we lost. painter is awful, but howell showed some signs, and javi is MUCH better than i anticipated 18 months ago. and vandenburg, much more helpful than i thought. just wish he were a corn-dog-type-in-for-8-minutes-per rather than someone counted on for a real contribution. i feel like we have quality 2-3 starters and ~6 decent bench players - just need to find those other 2 legit ACC starters next year. I think youth is a big thing, but Tracy being out is the main reason. Since we run our offense through him, it seemed like no one knew what to do the first half. Horner was trying to hard and Javi wasn't looking for his shot.

We win that game going away tonight if any of the following plays out differently....


1. Smith not playing (obvious)

2. Javi sucking cock for the first 38 minutes.

3. Dennis Horner sucking cock for the first 40 minutes.

4. The combination of Painter, Vandenberg, and Howell sucking cock on offense for close to 40 minutes. Howell actually improved which is encouraging, but for the love of god stop shooting 3s.


Regarding Javi not playing when we gave up a 6 point run, he got taken out of the game because he had 3 turnovers in a matter of 4 or 5 posessions. Not all totally on him, but he has to be better than that when we're playing in a tie game or with the lead.
