after watching that hilarity to finish... why was that stupid play ever blown dead? If the first backward pass was just a flag, but the second was incomplete. What if the first one was ok and also the second one was and was only a fumble? Then the play would have been blown dead incorectly and they'd go to a replay. How would they resume?

Not letting the Bears score last night was asinine.

I am fully convinced that every NFL team should be hiring a 20-something who has been playing Madden on their Playstation/Xbox for years to manage the clock. Say what you will about coaches - they coach 20 games a year with pre-season. Hardcore Madden players are playing that many games a WEEK (if not more) - who do you think is going to manage the clock better?

an extra two games is just a bad idea

listen, I LOVE football. but the super bowl is Feb 7th now. two more weeks plus the extra bye they probably will have to add puts the super bowl at the end of Feb unless they push the NFL season up a few weeks and start it in August. that is just ridiculous.

And two preseason games is just not enough to evaluate your depth players. Even if it is, just drop the two preseason games and keep the reg season at 16. The NFL can surely survive losing two games worth of revenue from the season ticket holders.

They've all but admitted at this point that they'll still be evaluating rookie players by the 3rd week of the season. 2 games is an especially short time to break in a rookie QB, so get ready for a lot more teams playing their first couple of games with Charlie Frye, Seneca Wallace, and (lol) Jake Delhomme rather than a possibly decent rookie.
