No reason to jump to conclusions yet...but it should not be a surprise. He has been staying after almost every practice according to Chip. I wonder if he is part of a package deal, though. 11/15/2011 10:05:46 AM |

I look for this thread everyday in hopes that it will be bumped with news that Mo has, once again, been given the boot and someone competent has been given the job. 11/16/2011 3:11:16 PM |

so, I got bored in class today and threw this lineup together:
1st line: Skinner-Ruutu-Jokinen 2nd line: Dalpe-Staal-Boychuk 3rd line: Stewart-Sutter-Ponikarovsky 4th line: Larose-Brent-Dwyer
This would make it possible (though not likely under Chairman Mo) to roll 4 lines. Give the 4th line guys some good PK time, which could keep them all around 9 minutes a night. Split the ES time btw the lines something like (35-30-22-13). It puts scorers in scoring roles, 3 big bodies on a 3rd line with a competent defensive forward and a 4th line full of pests. 11/16/2011 6:14:07 PM |

man those were just two great plays by montreal....
price dumping the puck high off the glass on the kill leading to a two on one, and an absolutely incredible pass on the powerplay that forced cam to have to slide all the way to the opposite post.
we should have a shit load more than 4 shots though, but those goals by Montreal were hard earned.] 11/16/2011 7:59:42 PM |

Quote : | "During the second intermission Wednesday night in Montreal, frustration boiled over for Carolina Hurricanes forward Eric Staal who was seen “throwing a goalie stick” into the locker room area and also seen “storming out of the locker room” on two occasions until being chased down into a separate room and being cooled down by coach Paul Maurice, TSN reported.
The Hurricanes were shutout 4-0 in Montreal and kept with 5 shots 34 minutes through the game.
The Hurricanes captain Staal has a league and career low in plus/minus at -18, and has only four goals, and eight points through 19 games, on pace for a career low in both categories.
“We didn’t play” Staal stated. “We showed up halfway through the second period and played the third period, we got what we deserved.”
With the frustrations possibly boiling over into the locker room, it all but seems that Maurice has lost control of his own team. Hurricanes GM Jim Rutherford spoke with ESPN’s Pierre LeBrun last week and said changes were all but evident and it is looking like a coaching change will happen in the next few days." |

No changes are being considered at the moment?!?! So why is he not under the microscope, just because he is part owner?
I am boiling right now about that comment by "Pimp Hand".... but, usually when someone says something like that... they mean the opposite. Unless it's Marty Hurney or maybe also Jim Rutherford
FWIW, Darren Dreger tweeted this morning "Hurricanes may be running out of options. Trade or coaching change. I expect on or the other. All the signs are there."

How much worse does it have to get before he pulls the trigger on Maurice? Who is currently available that would be a viable replacement? I'm not really seeing any decent names being thrown around 11/17/2011 11:53:29 AM |

There are a few guys out there.... assistant coaches
Davis Payne, who turned St. Louis around is sticking out in my mind. He played minor hockey in Greensboro with Dan Bylsma. They are best friends.
As far as a trade goes, I doubt there are any big ones to be made... so a trade basically means a scrub would be brought in. The talent is there on this team, the coaching is not utilizing it. 11/17/2011 11:58:06 AM |

Jesus, he said that just to let us know Staal's explanation for the incident, this was after the incident already was disseminated out to the internet and we all heard about it. Chip obviously doesn't buy that explanation, which is part of the reason he made a point to tweet about it.
