Ok, so I have a job and I can pay my bills. Am I supposed to be in the 1 percent or the 99 percent group? Just curious.
10/15/2011 1:40:30 AM
It depends on the job but I'd say the odds are in favor of the 99%

Maybe the creator of the image should have used Lenin instead of Stalin, but it's good to see you supporting the banks above your fellow humans.
10/15/2011 1:28:06 PM
Just following the example of my leader:
10/15/2011 1:30:37 PM
Fine, then. Leninists. I'd still support not only banks (who are associations of fellow humans) but corporatist politics, if those are my two choices.
10/15/2011 1:32:37 PM
pryderi what is a 'corporation'?it's groups of working and producing human beings. something you will never understand for the entirety of your life more than likely. just because you do not understand us, doesn't mean you have to declare an all out war on us in the streets. luckily your fellow anarchists still make up a less than 1% of the worlds population[Edited on October 15, 2011 at 1:37 PM. ^^that's fucking sad.^you're an idiot. Look at the history of our nations employment during the 1940s up until the 1970s. Unemployment numbers were lower than they were today and during the 1930s. All I'm seeing is a bunch of people pissing and moaning because they don't have a job. I don't see any real solutions to the problem being raised. Try to go to 'Occupy wall Street' and We are the 99' websites, and again, lots of pissing and moaning, but no platform. I get it, you're mad. Roger that. So someone explain to me, and I mean this sincerely, what they want us to do about their situation aside from give them money. Because if I'm gonna be giving up my money via taxes, it ain't gonna be to just turn around and give it to someone else. What's the plan?
10/15/2011 9:16:07 PM
I wanna go to one of these protests just to see how many hot wannabe hippie chicks I can nail.
10/15/2011 9:23:24 PM
10/15/2011 9:24:51 PM
^ the funny thing is - most of these people won't vote because they don't want to conform to "the man" and whether or not they like it - the change that they want is going to happen in congress and the white house - and the only way to affect it is by voting.vicious circle....(granted not EVERYONE protesting isn't going to vote but I have no doubt that many of them don't)apparently they've filled times square this evening]
10/15/2011 9:27:37 PM
The thing is - people agree that there are problems which need to be fixed - which a solution CAN be found to these problemsbut walking around a business atmosphere smelling, acting, and overall behaving like a goddamn dirty jobless hippie from 1960 does not work anymore towards achieving the goals they desire
10/15/2011 9:33:09 PM
^^^^^ They have no platform, but you're certain their non-existent platform involves giving away your money?
10/15/2011 9:35:19 PM
^^right but i'm not clear on whether or not this group specifically is providing any suggested solutions to the problems that they're complaining about?they can't find jobs? well if you're the person saying that you're not gonna take a job that doesn't pay at least $20 an hour, then the government ain't gonna help your ass.you take out $150,000 in student loans to get your BA and MA in english lit and you want the government to pay off your student loan debt cause you can't find a job that pays well enough? well then you shouldn't have spent so much on your educationthe government can't and shouldn't fix everything for everyone that's asinine ]
10/15/2011 9:35:53 PM
^^^^ i doubt most of them won't vote. I don't perceive a majority of these people to be anarchist hippies. If i were at the top, i would push for reinstating glass-segall. I would push for amending laws that demand publicly traded companies put profit above everything else. And I would push for a cap on executive compensation at a multiple of average worker pay, similar to what they have in Germany.Right now, the protesters seem to be measuring success by how many people get arrested, which is completely idiotic.^ the thing is, i generally support the sentiments of this movement, but I'm not really in debt or anything. It doesn't really make good marketing for people like me to scribble a message on cardboard.[Edited on October 15, 2011 at 9:39 PM. Reason : ]
10/15/2011 9:37:43 PM
^^^No, which is why I asked what their platform is. So instead of nitpicking at irrelevant fluff, tell me what the plan is, hero. I'm not asking to smugly point out a flaw, I want to know what the proposed solution is.[Edited on October 15, 2011 at 9:40 PM. Reason : .]
10/15/2011 9:40:16 PM
publicly traded companies' #1 goal is to make money - thats why they're traded, am i wrong? i mean i see what you're saying but making money is what companies do.and capping executive salaries is all well and good but most of their money doesn't come from wages, it comes from bonus packages and stock options.consider this dude at BOA
10/15/2011 9:44:15 PM
^^ My only point is that you don't care what the platform is or isn't. You already 'know' what it is.But, to answer your question...I don't know what the solution is. If I did, I probably wouldn't be posting on TWW.
10/15/2011 9:46:22 PM
I 'know' what the platform is because you can't spend money unless you either cut spending or increase taxes. And so far I haven't seen a lot of budget cutting. You gonna raise taxes? Fine, as long as someone has a PLAN on how to use it effectively.EDIT: My mistake. I forgot, we can just keep going into the hole, like we have been doing for the past decade or so.[Edited on October 15, 2011 at 9:57 PM. Reason : .]

10/15/2011 9:56:42 PM
what's "effective" mean to you?
10/15/2011 9:56:54 PM
10/15/2011 10:00:25 PM
Effective means returning to a balanced national budget that's in the black, providing a way from people to choose how to invest/save for their future with some semblance of security, and separating corporate and governmental interests.
