12:40 Friday is the perfect time for a couple of reasons. One, the first day you just kind of want to experience the tournament as a whole instead of worrying about your team. Buzzer beaters, busted brackers, beers, nachos, pork fucking barbeque sliders. But come friday, you're ready for State to play, and BAM there in the first batch of games. Take a long lunch and cross your fingers.

I didn't realize San Diego had moved to somewhere west of Samoa...

Actually Samoa's wrong...I don't even know what would be -7 hours.

According to the official NCAA s-curve things they released on the bracketology show, we were pretty solidly in. Ranked 42, above a lot of other bubble teams like Texas, Cal, USF, and BYU.

So they were just being dicks, calling us last?

Or does the 11 seed in the Midwest always go last?

They were just being dicks

there isn't even a midwest region every year. sometimes there's a southwest, or northeast, etc.

Man i am fucking jacked.

When they announced that last team i prepared myself for them to name some directional team like Northern Iowa while i fell to my knees and choked on my own self loathing but sure enough i saw the little red block S and for once i felt like there was a reason to drink until Friday.

All the losing has brought us to this pinnacle. This brilliant day where we can share our talents with the world of people who have lunch around 12:40 PM EST and live in a regional viewing area where the broadcast is televised and their work supervisors have issued the A-OK to "human resource managers" to wheel out a 32' tv on one of those carts you see middle school spanish teachers carrying around the hallways on tuesdays/thursdays.

hahaha, jerry palm was soooo wrong.

http://www.cbssports.com/collegebasketball/blog/jerry-palm/17730682/unc-kentucky-keep-1-seeds-despite-losses-st-bonaventure-boots-nc-state

then talks about how we are an equally unqualified team to northwestern and seton hall (even though we weren't even the last 4 in)

If there's one thing I've learned from this entire bracket year, it's that Jerry Palm is basically clueless. Just about everything I've heard him prognosticate has failed to occur.

Lunardi claims to have gotten 36/37 (Iona) at-large bids correct, and 63 of 68 teams within 1 spot of their actual seed.

I couldn't tell you how true that is, but that's what he claims.

^ Apparently he has a "source" w/in the selection committee. That's why you'll see his picks change dramatically on the last day.

But whatever...who gives a shit.

ESPN also claims he is 99% correct when independent analysis says he isn't. They obviously want to boost the reputation of their resident bracketologist.

Jerry Palm may have had a bad year but he had an excellent track record on his site collegerpi.com

I followed that site for several years in the late 90's and early 2000's and he'd consistently get all but 1-2 teams correct and most within one spot of their seed.

I haven't followed him in several years because there are so many other bracketology sites/prognosticators but he is Godfather of bracketology available online. Back in the late 90s there simply werent other websites offering that stuff.

Also give him some credit for basically cracking the RPI code back when it was secretive.

the bracket project does a pretty good job of that.

http://bracketproject.50webs.com/matrix.htm

#'s are up, Lunardi sucked it up

Lobo, Midwest sports and the early lead/washington post all at the top of the rankings this year.

"N.C. State Celebrated Making The NCAA Tournament Like They Won The Title

As the brackets unfolded in real time yesterday, each team gathered together to watch the selection show and see their name announced on the big screen. And as each team was filmed reacting to their seeds, we were privy to some fantastic reaction shots. But all seed celebrations pale in comparison to N.C. State, which went absolutely nuts over its selection."

what did he expect? A quiet high five and pat on the back? This is so stupid.

Yeah I mean if they were like me after they saw both play in games on the board they assumed we were fucked. When you are a bubble team, haven't been in a long time, and are the very last team announced of course you go crazy!

^If there weren't reactions, they wouldn't film them. I'd much rather watch our team get excited about it than watch some of the teams they showed, where the players didn't exhibit any emotion at all.

Oh my god i hope they have enough energy leftover to actually play the game after that celebration

He can't be serious.

Who wouldn't celebrate making the tournament for the first time in their careers when they were left for dead two weeks ago and ended up getting the VERY last spot on the board.

Crazy how nerve wracking this all was, considering our seeding in the 1-68 s-curve the NCAA released this year was actually 34, so not really on the fringe as much as some other teams.

I actually like the 12:40 start time. I'll have to keep track of the first half on my computer at work, but I can leave for lunch at halftime and watch the entire second half. Not too bad given that I can't take a half day.
