I could see them adding great works. Ability to annex land. A few new utilities/government options...

At some point they will offer bigger tile sizes. I also think subways will exist along with a highway system within your city

Yeah I've outgrown avenues. Especially at the city entrance. Its a massive choke point.

Is it stable enough to be worth playing yet? I bought a copy with a significant pre-order discount (~$20), but I haven't opened it yet. Debating whether to keep it, maybe even register now to get in on EA's penance offer, or just return it.

Hopefully they will add the ability to build freeways within cities, but whenever you build one it immediately kills off any part of the city within several blocks of it. Realism.

I don't understand why people jump on board new games so fast. I usually wait until the consensus is out on a game and it drops in price. People should not be buying this game right now. Play something else. You don't have to be cool like your friends.

I've had no problem playing the last couple days. I still think some of the regional stuff is wonky, though.

I bought it because I played the beta. I tried it first. It wasn't so wonky then, but its obvious it was limited in scope.

Plus what do you give a shit?

"I think the DLC is just going to be different building sets, nothing major"

I doubt it. That will definitely be a part of it, but they left so many things out that can be added. Think of all the transportation options, specializations, great works, maps, terrain, probably a zoning option or two, bike lanes, etc. basically just think of all the diversity that real cities have and how little of it is actually in the game. There's several hundred dollars worth of DLC there and they know it.

I know where you are coming from when you are a big fan of a franchise, you get all excited and buy it on the first day. Lately, the business practices of EA and Square have completely turned me against them. Did you hear about Final Fantasy: All the Bravest? That shit was despicable.

I just think it's time to send a big FU to the companies that try to pull this crap.

depends how everything gets rectified. that lucy lady thats the head of maxis reiterated today that offline modes are a serious undertaking, but she did mentionthey were looking into it, if thats what it took to generate consumer trust back.

honestly, i dont see why they couldnt do an offline mode where you're limited to three cities and a great work. any larger region must be done online, same with any future larger city. frankly, i think that might be acceptable. you can at least do stuff offline.

i guess we'll see how that plays out

ive screwed around with some parks, trying to optimize a block size. however, this is rather uncooperative with these snap grids

its like resizing a picture in power point, and it keeps snapping to some dumb size you didnt want.

Really do not see EA doing anything to undermine DRM. They will never turn from the dark side

which is why i mention if they do... it will be a reduced capacity offline mode, sandbox only. ineligible for larger tiles when they do that, tiny regions. etc. it leaves quite a bit ofgame for the user to desire, but gives everyone a taste, and lets people experiment when

How do you solve the whole don't have water city catch fire type problems? Had a city of 150k or so with tons of ore/coal mines, but it kept running out of water to the point there was none left and everything caught fire, and exploded.

Also have the problem of running out of workers when High Density Industrial start showing up. Mainly the high tech stuff they always close due to no workers.

I think the best way to ensure constant water supply is to build a sewage treatment plant next to a water treatment plant. The sewage will recycle as ground water and can then be treated, so there is basically an endless supply.

Current city I am working on, probably my favorite I've done so far:

^^the mines use a lot more water than regular R/C/I

also you're gonna want a university cause the high school / community college grads are too dumb to hold jobs at high tech industries

^I played for like an hour or 2 max and my city was bigger than that and I'd probably used 1/8th of the map.

Is it really worth going off a grid in this game?

1/8th of the map? I have kept some open space in that city but what you are looking at is 90% of the available map area. There's a bit off the screen to the left, but that's it. Cities are definitely tiny in this game. It hasn't really bugged me yet, and I don't know if it will, but they are definitely small.

Is there something you need to do to receive a gift from another city? I gifted one city I have money from another to help it get out of a funk. I give the money and it deducts it from the first city. However...it doesn't appear in the second city.

I did this in another region. The gift isn't a wire transfer for starters. They transfer the money via truck. So your city's traffic matters. It took me a little while before I saw it in my other city.

That said. I sent jazon a gift the last time I was on our region, watched the truck... Idk if he got it yet.

Its a common complaint.

Lol yeah, I think its asinine that the money is transferred via truck, and not wired. You can have a nuclear power plant, but not the ability wire money. What.
