I could see them adding great works. Ability to annex land. A few new utilities/government options...
3/11/2013 11:51:42 AM
At some point they will offer bigger tile sizes. I also think subways will exist along with a highway system within your city
3/11/2013 1:38:04 PM
Yeah I've outgrown avenues. Especially at the city entrance. Its a massive choke point.
3/11/2013 1:45:09 PM
Is it stable enough to be worth playing yet? I bought a copy with a significant pre-order discount (~$20), but I haven't opened it yet. Debating whether to keep it, maybe even register now to get in on EA's penance offer, or just return it.
3/11/2013 1:47:10 PM
Hopefully they will add the ability to build freeways within cities, but whenever you build one it immediately kills off any part of the city within several blocks of it. Realism.
3/11/2013 1:58:34 PM
I don't understand why people jump on board new games so fast. I usually wait until the consensus is out on a game and it drops in price. People should not be buying this game right now. Play something else. You don't have to be cool like your friends.
3/11/2013 2:11:13 PM
Because we believeI'm Krallum and I approved this message.
3/11/2013 2:20:42 PM
I've had no problem playing the last couple days. I still think some of the regional stuff is wonky, though.
3/11/2013 2:21:46 PM
I bought it because I played the beta. I tried it first. It wasn't so wonky then, but its obvious it was limited in scope.Plus what do you give a shit?
3/11/2013 2:44:37 PM
this dude has a shitload of videos of a whole region he's doing himselfhttp://www.youtube.com/user/HypnotoadProductions

3/11/2013 5:07:52 PM
Yeah think about all of the shit that was in the old games that isn't in this one. I'm Krallum and I approved this message.
3/11/2013 5:10:44 PM
I know where you are coming from when you are a big fan of a franchise, you get all excited and buy it on the first day. Lately, the business practices of EA and Square have completely turned me against them. Did you hear about Final Fantasy: All the Bravest? That shit was despicable.I just think it's time to send a big FU to the companies that try to pull this crap.
3/11/2013 5:27:26 PM
Yeah, I didn't even think about it but after this game I will not be purchasing anything from EA for a long time.
3/11/2013 7:12:39 PM
depends how everything gets rectified. that lucy lady thats the head of maxis reiterated today that offline modes are a serious undertaking, but she did mentionthey were looking into it, if thats what it took to generate consumer trust back.honestly, i dont see why they couldnt do an offline mode where you're limited to three cities and a great work. any larger region must be done online, same with any future larger city. frankly, i think that might be acceptable. you can at least do stuff offline.i guess we'll see how that plays out
3/11/2013 7:52:45 PM
yeah, it would be a huge leap of technology to make a single player game not need the internet.
3/11/2013 9:07:07 PM
So whats the word. Should I start one on NAE1? or watI'm Krallum and I approved this message.
3/11/2013 9:11:35 PM
yeah

3/11/2013 10:07:28 PM
ive screwed around with some parks, trying to optimize a block size. however, this is rather uncooperative with these snap grids its like resizing a picture in power point, and it keeps snapping to some dumb size you didnt want.
3/11/2013 11:08:32 PM
3/11/2013 11:27:28 PM
which is why i mention if they do... it will be a reduced capacity offline mode, sandbox only. ineligible for larger tiles when they do that, tiny regions. etc. it leaves quite a bit ofgame for the user to desire, but gives everyone a taste, and lets people experiment when
3/11/2013 11:39:07 PM

How do you solve the whole don't have water city catch fire type problems? Had a city of 150k or so with tons of ore/coal mines, but it kept running out of water to the point there was none left and everything caught fire, and exploded. Also have the problem of running out of workers when High Density Industrial start showing up. Mainly the high tech stuff they always close due to no workers.[Edited on March 12, 2013 at 12:58 AM. Reason : .]
3/12/2013 12:41:06 AM
I think the best way to ensure constant water supply is to build a sewage treatment plant next to a water treatment plant. The sewage will recycle as ground water and can then be treated, so there is basically an endless supply.Current city I am working on, probably my favorite I've done so far:
3/12/2013 1:00:00 AM
^^the mines use a lot more water than regular R/C/Ialso you're gonna want a university cause the high school / community college grads are too dumb to hold jobs at high tech industries[Edited on March 12, 2013 at 1:39 AM. Reason : ^nice verticality]

3/12/2013 8:11:28 AM
That shit is so tiny, is that really the whole city?I had heard that this version was limited, but jesus christ. I can count the buildings.
3/12/2013 10:28:26 AM
^I played for like an hour or 2 max and my city was bigger than that and I'd probably used 1/8th of the map.Is it really worth going off a grid in this game?I'm Krallum and I approved this message.
3/12/2013 10:30:29 AM
1/8th of the map? I have kept some open space in that city but what you are looking at is 90% of the available map area. There's a bit off the screen to the left, but that's it. Cities are definitely tiny in this game. It hasn't really bugged me yet, and I don't know if it will, but they are definitely small.
3/12/2013 10:33:40 AM
more like SimVillage
3/12/2013 10:34:34 AM
Just think of it as a game that takes place entirely in New Jersey.
3/12/2013 10:35:48 AM
wait yeah it was closer to 1/4thI'm Krallum and I approved this message.[Edited on March 12, 2013 at 10:37 AM. Reason : I'm confusing the two cities that I made that had similar geography]/]

Is there something you need to do to receive a gift from another city? I gifted one city I have money from another to help it get out of a funk. I give the money and it deducts it from the first city. However...it doesn't appear in the second city.
3/12/2013 4:22:57 PM
I did this in another region. The gift isn't a wire transfer for starters. They transfer the money via truck. So your city's traffic matters. It took me a little while before I saw it in my other city. That said. I sent jazon a gift the last time I was on our region, watched the truck... Idk if he got it yet.Its a common complaint.
3/12/2013 4:28:55 PM
Oh hai, thanks for the giftI haven't logged in in two days, so I have no idea if I got it
3/12/2013 4:32:16 PM
You were hurting for money, at least what the bubble showed... I sent you like 500k so you can keep sending fuel to the space port.
3/12/2013 4:35:00 PM
3/12/2013 4:36:15 PM
Got it. Thanks!
3/12/2013 4:45:00 PM
3/12/2013 4:47:33 PM
I have no desire to play after playing for an hour.
3/12/2013 4:48:50 PM
Can you demo it at all?
3/12/2013 4:59:58 PM
Yeah but it costs $59EA REKTI'm Krallum and I approved this messag.e
3/12/2013 5:19:43 PM
Lol yeah, I think its asinine that the money is transferred via truck, and not wired. You can have a nuclear power plant, but not the ability wire money. What.[Edited on March 12, 2013 at 5:37 PM. Reason : .]
