^^ Paige actually might be more worthy than Parker if we're talking about "value." Duke would still be good without Parker (though not great). UNC without Paige might win 10 games all year.

well, usually.

here's some quotes from TJ about the game

Quote :
" Quoting NC State forward T.J. Warren:
On what allowed him to be so effective tonight:
“Well, I came out pretty aggressive tonight and my teammates did a good job of finding me in the open floor. As a team, we executed our offense effectively. So, all credit for this performance goes to my teammates.”

On whether the defense Pitt played affected him:
“The important thing for me is to pick and choose my spots against the defense. Like I said, our guards did a pretty good job of swinging the ball around the top of the key. Also, Lennard (Freeman) set some great screens for me. Again, this was an all-around effort by our team.”

On whether he knew it was his night at any point:
“Yeah, that three at the end of the shot-clock felt good, so I kind of knew it was going to be one of those nights. My teammates found me in some good spots and I was able to knock down those shots.” "

Just throw us a bone and give it to TJ. God does Duke or UNC have to win everything?

Its silly that he got to 41 on only 22 shots. It's to the point that i'm surprised when he misses a shot within 10 ft.

Green winning ACC POY was stupid. We're competitive because of TJ. VT won 4 ACC games.

I also really hope Parker is a bust so all these "but Parker will be better in the NBA!" assholes get shut up. Like it would be a huge surprise if a 3/4 tweener picked in the Top 5 is a bust, right?

Leading the league in scoring AND field goal percentage is pretty much unheard of. He's also top-10 in rebounds and 3rd in the league in steals. POY all the way.

only 2 players all time have led the ACC in scoring and FG%...Horace Grant and Tim Duncan...both post players. This IS unheard of.

36% from behind the arc in conference play

and does he technically lead the ACC in FG%? There are a few centers and power forwards with higher FG%, not sure if they have enough FG attempts to qualify though

^According to theacc.com he does. He is shooting .528. The next guy is Garrick Sherman from ND who is shooting .511. Then it drops down to Parker who is shooting .479.

edit: Whats funny is that Sherman has taken 200 less field goal attempts than Warren.

ahh thanks, I had my games mixed up and forgot TJ sat so much against UVA due to foul trouble, not injury.

I don't get why the national (or for that matter, the local) perception is that we are "real bad"? I mean, I know we aren't great and not a tourney team, but we are within a missed call/shot or five from being a tourney lock and top 5 in the ACC.

^^I believe that media members have found that they can get more hits by talking negative about NC State than if they talked positive. We are a rabid fanbase when things aren't going our way.

I'm with you though. We're not a bad team. We're not a great team. We're middle of the ACC. With a bunch of guys that either haven't played at this level or haven't played at this level in 2 years surrounding a super sophomore. But hey...18-12 (8-9) is considered "real bad" these days I guess. Whatever. F em all.

Our rivals are gonna kill us in the recruiting trail if TJW doesn't get POY.

We're a pretty bad team with 1 magnificent player. Take TJ off this roster and our strategy is Ralston Turner jacking up ten 3s a game with either a mediocre JUCO transfer or a freshman PF as the second option.

ACC has a pretty high cut off for official stats. I remember last year Scott Wood didn't have enough FT attempts to qualify for the FT% stat until one of our last games.

To me, the crazy thing about what Warren is doing is that he's pretty much the only guy drawing serious attention from opposing defense and yet he's still shooting ~53%. Everyone in the gym knew he was getting the ball at the end of the games last night and Wednesday against UNC, but he still couldn't be stopped. By my count, he's lead our team in scoring in 27 of the 29 games he's played, with UVA and NCCU being the lone exceptions. Both Paige and Parker have teammates that have been shouldering a significant portion of the workload and are capable of leading their team in scoring on any given night.

I really don't see it as a clear cut case for Parker for POY. Obviously, he should be in the discussion, but he is a terrible defender, and had a cold streak in early Feb where he was clearly struggling. You can also make the case that he isn't even the best player on his own team.

TJW isnt great, but he is a very good defender. He rebounds well, and is now the point for our 1-2-2 zone, which has been very effective.

I am just saying that Parker is a terrible defender. Its hard to give POY to someone who is terrible and brings nothing to the table half the game.

Parker is a bad defender. I still think that will be his downfall in the NBA, and it's why I'd still take Wiggins over him all day.

I don't get the "real bad" comment from Seth Davis either. 8-9 (potentially 9-9) in the ACC doesn't seem "real bad" to me. Whatever. Just win the tourney and we'll shut everybody up.

Well, that is what the article says

Quote :
"To be eligible for consideration, a student-athlete must have earned a 3.00 grade point average for the previous semester and maintained a 3.00 cumulative average during his academic career."

Although that just says you have to have that to be considered. He could have a 3.00 but still not have been selected (i guess).

I he really in industrial engineering? In trying to find this info, i stumbled across his twitter account and see that he has "RIP GF" in his headline. What's this about? I thought it was just something stupid face says.
