Winning percentage...so UNC

What would happen if we didn't get a national seed but ended up like #9. We would be the top team without a super regional seed so does that mean if any of the top 8 lose in regionals we would host or is it the upset team that gets it?

The committee only seeds teams 1-8 as national seeds. After that, it's basically a pool of regional host who are #1 seeds. The committee then pairs two Regionals together with one being a Regional hosted by a national seed. The only rule for the pairing is the national seed and the #1 seed of the regional they're paired with cannot be from the same conference. So, if UNC, UVA, and FSU are the ACC's national seeds and we don't get one, we can't be paired with them for a possible Super Regional matchup. For us to host a Super Regional without being a national seed requires the national seed that we're paired with losing their Regional and of course us winning ours.

The easy way to look at the ACCT is that we have to beat Carolina and Miami has to lose to either us or Clemson in order for us to advance.

^ And yeah, regarding what you said earlier about the super regional pairing, I'm REALLY hoping that we aren't paired with Vandy when it all shakes out.

UNC's game vs Clemson may have impacts on NCAA selection, so not like the game doesn't matter to them at all. Obviously the game against NCSU is more important. I expect they won't use up their bullpen biggies, even in a close game vs Clemson.

Just got back from the game...

We dominated. Diaz is a quality pitcher but our bats were on fire and they looked sloppy.

UNC game is close to selling out.

Should be a fun one.

Another good outing for Jernigan. Hopefully he can go a little deeper into games during the NCAA tourney. Woeck coming in and shutting down Miami was huge. Almost had that triple play, but no harm done. Wilkins and Overman looked good out of the pen.

Adametz and Clyde had great catches today and the offense got what was needed and even produced runs later in the game without Miami screwing up.

I heard on the radio that our game vs UNC has sold out of seats, but there were a few standing room only tix for sale.

• Florida State looked like a strong bet to earn a national seed coming into the week, thanks to its ACC Atlantic Division title and its back-to-back series wins against North Carolina State and Clemson in the final two weeks. But the Seminoles have gone 0-3 so far this week, losing a nonconference tilt at North Carolina on Monday and then dropping their first two games at the ACC tournament. Florida State scored twice in the top of the ninth to tie Thursday’s game against Virginia Tech, but the Hokies answered in the bottom of the frame, as Mark Zagunis hit a walk-off solo home run to lift Virginia Tech to a 3-2 win. Meanwhile, North Carolina State won its ACC tournament opener Wednesday against Clemson and was idle Thursday. The Seminoles edged the Wolfpack by just a half-game in the regular-season standings, and N.C. State has a better record against the top 50 (17-9) than FSU (14-14). One of those two teams figures to land a national seed, but it now appears that N.C. State could beat out Florida State if it wins another game or two in Durham, especially if Florida State loses its third tournament game to Virginia. Stay tuned.

If they lose tonight and beat us, they're 2-1 and go through on head-to-head (if Miami beats Clemson) OR highest seed (if Clemson beats Miami, leaving a 3-way tie at 2-1 between State UNC-CH, and Clemson).
