Not really, it's just like a screen pass. If you call a screen pass, and your OL gets down the field and blocking, if you decide to just chunk the ball down the field, you have ineligible receivers down the field. The players didn't execute the play correctly. It was certainly designed to be a pick, but the guys just have to act like they're running a route and not just running out to block, easy call by the officials.

Kelly simply calling out the refs and making these statements because he wants to point out how close they are when they end up with 1-loss and want to make the playoffs.

The defender covering the guy who actually caught the ball has ZERO to do with this PI call. The two other WRsinside WR came off the line blocking and pushed all the defender back into the end zone.

This is probably the easiest offensive pass inference call I've ever seen.

Hell, I called it in the bar while it was live.

[Edited on October 20, 2014 at 7:38 PM. Reason : i just watched it again. the outside WR was fine with what he did. other dude was blatantly blocking]

i know you're saying this for hyperbole, but this is an absurd thing to say. if you've watched more than a season of football then you've seen a guy physically throw his defender over and then catch a ball.

and there's still no way #8 would've gotten to that ball. terrible flag.

LOL at simonn's rationale here. The rule is clear, this violated the rule and gave ND a clear advantage on the play. It was a great call

I don't mind uncalled holding calls on the backside of a play, etc... This one was a clear advantage

Fwiw, you guys are not even arguing about the right play. The penalty was called on #7. They both held but the outside defender had a chance if he hadn't been sleigh drilled 5 yards backwards

since when is whether or not the play would've been made irrelevant in PI calls?

I don't think we should call out the best football team in the state on what their football program is doing. Especially since our program has blatantly copied their ideas before.

Well, I guess this gives our administration ample time to copy their field before the GT game.

Wrong, UVA lost because they failed to put UNC away in the 3rd quarter and allowed them to hang in the game.

those two PI calls against UVA were bogus (in the third and fourth quarter?) . tough to put an opponent away when the refs keep the other team in it

That's laughable. The only real defense he faced all year shut him down. Too many good QBs this year for a RB on a mediocre team to win it.

Clemson has absolutely no offense without Deshaun Watson. Syracuse's D has pretty decent this year. But them holding Clemson to 6 so far is much more a sign of Clemson's offensive ineptitude with Stoudt at QB.

Might have some late drama if Ole Miss and SC can get a stop. Both teams down 1 score late in the 4th Q.

[Edited on October 25, 2014 at 10:41 PM. Reason : ole miss down 3, 1:19 to go, 0 timeouts. starting at own 25]

Wallace has not looked good at all. Although he's made a few plays on this final drive. Definitely rattled.

And a delay of game as they line up for the FG is killer.

Oh no! Ole Miss over thought that after the delay of game + time out by LSU.

On the road, with your QB clearly rattled...that's a bad call. The idea wasn't terrible...but given the situation and how Wallace has fared so far, you can't call that.

I can see trying a quick out to the sidelines to get some more yards, but that pass was way too deep and way too risky for the situation, especially considering how bad Wallace had been

Yep. If the offense had been rolling all night and had the D on their heels...sure take that chance. But that was not the right situation.

This system will blow up if miss state loses and theres 2 1 loss teams from sec west. As well as nd fsu and a 1 loss team from the other 3 conferences. Should definitely be an 8 or 12 team playoff.

8 team would be perfect. 5 power conference champs, the best non powerconference champion, and two at large bids. You'd have people bitching but you couldn't really complain if you're MSU, Oregon ext. just win your conference.

No matter how many spots they add, people will be bitching, just like the NCAA tournament. They're up to 60+ teams and you still have the teams on the bubble that don't make it and people in the media complain how some team got slighted.

Top 4 is fine(otherwise you're talking about adding too many games). If you miss it because your SOS sucks, schedule better in the future.

No way it needs to be 12. If you look at past decade or more of BCS games...how many times has there been much, if any debate about a #5 or 6 team deserving a shot at the title? Usually it comes down to maybe 1 or 2 teams at the most who can make a real argument for being snubbed by the BCS. I think 4 is fine for now. I wouldn't be surprised to see it expand to 8 eventually, and I wouldn't really oppose that. But no way 12 teams need to be in it
