So the Dean Smith Center opened on January 18, 1986. Roughly 30 years of Basketball and we just gave them their lowest scoring game ever in the place. Beating them is awesome, but having something like that down on the books will eat at UNC coaches/athletes/fans/students/alum/etc forever. Deep down it hurts UNC fans more to lose to us than to Duke.

I thought Roy seemed pretty humble and remorseful in the post game. He was obviously pissed, but he was more exasperated than livid. Probably had something to do with him calling out the UNC fans, who were actually pretty loud tonight. If you're gonna do shit like that, you better have your team ready to play.

In my opinion, one of the smartest decisions last night was to call those timeouts during the UNC run, but it could have burned us bad if we had not pulled away again. Gottfried has got dem BIG BALLZ.


Also, when is the last time our team shot almost the same percentage (35.1%) from the field as the three point line (35%)? Seems pretty unlikely for a team to do.

The "outrage" over sfn makes a lot of sense from a psychological approach. Focus on the classless fanbase (one person on twitter). Do anything you can to avoid thinking about the investigation, near shutout in football, likely being swept by duke in basketball, splitting a series with state (2pts from a sweep), scoring 46 pts at home, Roy calling the fans a buncha goshdern bitches, and the rise of an ACC that relies less and less on the battle of the blues. I recommend booze.

I dunno though...I've loved all our teams so if they qualify as the consequences, then I'd say the deal was worth it.

And, of course, the real reason for our run of "bad luck" was probably the University's concerted effort to deemphasize athletics throughout the 90s.
