Nah. A basic tenant of football is that you can do all the deception you want during a LIVE ball, but no deception before the snap (substitution rules, formation requirements, player numbering etc).

lol, all the other things you mentioned are TOTALLY different. You know what else players do BEFORE the snap? They move around and try to disguise things like coverage patterns and blitzes, which is 1000% deception . This is a pussy rule.

Of course players can move around however the movement is still governed by the formation requirements so the defense can tell eligibles. It's one of the reasons why the nfl changed the ineligible reporting as eligible rules because of the Patriots abusing it last postseason to deceive the defense on which players were eligible. Players moving around isn't deception because the defense can plainly see it and react.

These refs have been terrrrrible. They really should be disciplined for this one. It's like they fuck up the whole game, making it last 4 hours, and then on the last drive they act like they just want get out of town so quickly. How can they run the clock on the last catch by Watkins? He rolled out of bounds.
