Last two presidents actually murdered a lot of people including American citizens. I'm also still waiting for congress to investigate Bush/Iraqwar/WMD, Eric Holder/Wall Street, Saudi/911 connections (THINGS THAT ACTUALLY HAPPENED AND HURT AMERICANS) and the list goes on and on.

Checks and balances.
The FBI and the CIA are separate entities and would not be described as buddies by any means. The FBI does oversee the CIA in terms of the legality of their missions/projects and the CIA does gather intelligence that could potentially keep the FBI in check.
If the CIA were to, for example, force an undercover agent to perform sexual activities or crimes in order to entrap an informant, then the FBI would be very unhappy to find out about this and open an investigation.
I don't understand what this has to do with investigating Biden, but these two groups (the FBI and CIA) are different, unattached, and frequently investigate each other.

They (we, the US govt) don't give a shit about Ukrainians. This is about the Crimean pennisula as it is a very strategically important location for all parties involved.

So I'm not ok with it I just don't think its a priority considering this same president (and others) has done so many things that are far worse that have actually damaged lives of many ordinary people. I was vocal about the impeachable offenses all along while you were caught up in russia nonsense for 3 years.

I'd consider myself pretty worldly and had been to Ukraine but had not thought about Crimea as a place of importance in my life before they decided to join Russia nor could I have pointed to it on a map before the news told me how bad it was. I wonder what percentage of Americans think Crimea is important in their daily life. Its not even like Hormuz or some of the other hawk nests around the world.11/19/2019 5:18:32 PM |

volker and morrisson were clearly using language that would be appealing to the President but would also keep them from perjuring themselves.
Volker threw out so many "in retrospect, that should have been alarming to me" that you could make a drinking game out of it.
Then Morrisson stating that he did in deed raise concerns about the phone call, but only because "it could potentially be used for partisan politics."

my highlights from today:
Lawyer: When Trump says that he is a businessman and expects people to pay up before he writes them a check, what do you think that he meant by pay up?
Volker: I don't think that he meant anything specific, it was just a generic..uh... formulation.
and
Schiff: You were one of two people that reported the phone call to legal representation. Why, because the contents of the call were troubling?
Morrison: No, because I was afraid that they would be leaked and cause controversy.
Schiff: Becuase what you heard was unusual and disturbing.
Morrison: No, I was just afraid of them being leaked.
Blows my mind that people can't see through this deceptive language. 11/19/2019 10:10:08 PM |

Explosive to the extent that multiple people are providing pretty solid testimony that the Ukraine was pressured to announce investigations into Biden in order to receive the aid.
However, still very problematic is that there is as of yet no direct connection to Trump and the aid was eventually released without any such announcement from the Ukrainians.
Even more problematic to the Dems impeachment efforts, is that nobody has given testimony that the WH felt pressured into releasing the aid after the whistleblower announcements.
The latter point, in terms of why the aid was eventually released, has suspiciously not been touched on by anybody from either side.

you're spare parts bud
also sondland did connect trump
the biggest takeaway from sondland IMO is the change from previously when there was the idea that there was an official position on ukraine, and there was guiliani working in the background on ukraine to sondland making it clear that, no, the official position was the same as guiliani and the people raising alarms just weren't included in the top level decisions. that's bad for the administration and hurts their ability to distance themselves and throw guiliani under the bus 11/20/2019 12:07:48 PM |

You should know that dems can be as blantantly partisan as the republicans.
Sondland has repeatedly said in this testimony that Trump never told him directly that the aid was being held up on account of the Ukrainian president making a public announcement of the investigations. That's actually a big problem for the dems, as I stated before these proceedings started. It gives Trump a lot of outs here and plausible deniability.
I gather that the whole reason why he is testifying is that there have been tons of emails and texts messages released where Sondland states that the two are linked.
I wouldn't be surprised if somebody ends up going to jail after these proceedings are over, but it wont be Trump, and his impeachment will not go through the senate.11/20/2019 1:11:44 PM |

banjoman, I realize you are playing pundit and not just commenting on right vs wrong, but when there are multiple screenshots of texts or emails where Sondland basically says, "I just talked to the president, let's talk", and then the person he was speaking to testifies that Sondland told him, "the president will not release aid/meet with Zelensky unless they announce an investigation", do you believe Sondland when he then testifies, "The president didn't actually tell me the things I then told these other people, I just assumed"?

Ask why Mulvaney lied and said it was being held up for a second policy review, but it was released without a second policy review being conducted
we know on the record that there were efforts from state to the pentagon to congress to get trump to release the aid
trump released the aid because of of this pressure, including a bill in congress that pentagon funding would be cut if the money wasn't released that was to be voted on the next day and 3 congressional investigations that started 3 days prior
it's not a mystery

bro this isn't about you or me, or how smart we are, we already know which way you are leaning. This is about people watching these public proceedings and trying to make up their mind on how to vote or what to think.
Since one of the big talking points from the GOP is that there was no blackmail because the aid was released, it is nice to fit the release of the aid in its appropriate timeline, regarding the whistleblower and the actions of congress, during these proceedings. 11/20/2019 2:31:35 PM |

I’m really enjoying the irony of the GOP trying to invalidate Sondland’s claims, because they’re nothing but his own “perceptions”, which apparently to them equals “hearsay,” yet at the same time they keep parroting the talking point that Zalensky never appeared to act/feel “pressured” and that he told various outlets he insisted he wasn’t pressured, but then they ask Sondland to express Zelenaky’s “perception of pressure,” and then they attack him for not agreeing with said “perception”

The bad thing being done or not is the small hurdle. The big hurdle is if said bad thing warrants removal from office. The hurdle no one sees coming... GOP won't even let you get to that hurdle yet though. They will keep presenting smaller hurdles will just keep moving the goal posts until the big hurdle is the last one left. Then its good luck in the senate... 11/20/2019 3:02:03 PM |

Anyone who's been paying attention since day back in September knows what happened. The whistle blower complaint was made to Congress in mid August, on September 9, the house/senate judiciary committees received the complaint, and then two days later (9/11!) the Ukrainian aid was mysteriously released.
On 9/19 Rudy voluntarily went on CNN and accidentally outed himself by admitting that he was digging up dirt on Biden, and then on Trump 9/25 released the edited transcripts of the phone call in attempt to exonerate himself, and everyone who was watching it unfold in realtime couldn't believe how stupid of a move it was.

Liz Cheney said a few days ago the quid pro quo was improper.
The only direction gop can go from here is that it’s improper but not impeachable. This seems untenable to me. Lying about a blow job is improper but not impeachable you could argue.
Lying about bribery and corruption to benefit your campaign is the reason the founders put impeachment in the constitution. 11/20/2019 4:19:26 PM |
