And by the same token Mays hit a prayer to beat Miami and Georgia Tech handed us a game.

Really? Because that is a likely scenario not making the NIT

I think we'll make the NCAAs next year which will be with me, but if we don't at least get the NIT I don't think that Sid will be happy with the State of State and step down. Year 4 is do or die year.

Lowe won't step down. Why do that and risk not getting paid? It just makes no sense for anyone... NCAA's next year is an EXTREME longshot. EXTREME...

I wouldn't be so sure about that, look at what happened with Leitao and UVA. I don't think Sid has a buyout, but I could certainly envision a scenario where Lowe resigns to save face for the University and receives some sort of financial compensation for doing so.

So long as his financial compensation is punching Lee Fowler square in the damn nuts.

He likely wouldn't resign on his own accord. I could see him being given an ultimatum, i.e. you can resign or we can fire you, which if Fowler has any intelligence (eh oh!) then that would be the most likely course of action he should pursue.

If it comes to that, of course.

Kentucky fires Billy Gillespie, NC State fires Lowe, Gillespie is the new head coach of the Wolfpack. You heard it here first.

now whether its as an asst(which I am hoping altho BG has never been an asst anywhere) I dunno

but it looks to have SOME legs, could Fowler REALLY screw this up even more?

actually

like i said in the other thread

if Lowe got word of the firing and can talk to the recruits of BG that would be huge, Id love to get Daniel Orton from UK to come here and play, the #3 overall center, that would be a great 5* pickup for us

hopefully thats why we are "very interested" in the situation

No fucking way BG comes to NC State to be an assistant. That makes zero sense.

you got a link to any of those internet rumors regarding BG to NCSU?? I'm very curious to see what is being said.

if you really have hope that we're going to swoop in and steal recruits from kentucky, just stop.

or did you mean you have hope that we'll get BG? what's the deal w/ that? i leave for two hours and rumors are we're shopping a guy that just got fired?

BG would be a good fit for NC State

The BG rumors seem to have come out of nowhere but I think he would be a good fit at State. State also might try and go after Sean Miller of Xavier who an assistant at State and played at Pitt with Larry Harris, our head recruiter.

Is there any doubt in the world that Sean Miller will be on Pitt's sideline if Jamie Dixon leaves for UofA?

ok i almost agree with the people that want to lock this now, at least for the summer

unless there is a big recruiting get or loss, this thread is useless until the season starts back up

wait, hold on just one goddamn minute.

I think so too. He's only been at Kentucky for two years and they are not losing that badly, just by Kentucky standards. They made the NCAAs last year after starting horrible lost to Gardner-Webb. This year was a little weaker with a NIT run.

His track record of turning around programs is pretty damn good. he was the main guy I wanted us to go after.

[Edited on March 27, 2009 at 2:30 AM. Reason : Only at Kentucky would they want you gone with a 40-27 record in 2 years]

Sean Miller is under contract to Xavier for another 9 years. And Xavier was a 4 seed this year. I've got serious doubts about him going anywhere anytime soon.

I know this is a Lowe thread and all, but does anyone think Herb might bounce on ASU and head to UK if BG is canned? Pure bullshit spec on my part. Just curious if any of you think that might have legs.

Nah, man. I just got off the phone with Wendell Murphy and he told me that Barnes is coming here and Lowe will be the next HC at UF to replace Donovan. See coaching carousel thread.

Thats total bullshit man. Phil Jackson is retiring and I'm hearing from people that Lowe will replace him and coach the Lakers to the championship next season after they acquire Shaq and Lebron in off season deals.
