i haven't been reading packpride, but i can imagine he's fucking livid. some dudes show up that know nothing about the recruiting scene and do some interviews that are basically "hey man how are you? ... haha sounds good man, keep on truckin'", leak some bullshit rumor, write shitty articles that they don't even bother to spell check, upload "videos" that consist of three minutes of ryan harrow turning around in slow motion and then five clips, shown twice each, and people are posting on packpride to fund them to go to pangos? and they expect james to be okay w/ this b/c it's good for the program to have people visible?

it makes me mad and i don't even keep a scout.com subscription anymore.

Sorry to hear you dislike what we do so much. While we may run on sentences quite a bit, or not have proper punctuation all the time, we have been running spell check for quite a while now. Your gripe may be from the first month or two when I was running an old version of Safari that did not offer spell check in the text box. I'll be the first to admit, we had a lot of spelling mistakes due to rushing to get articles up, but we've since been pretty accurate as far as spelling goes now that we're working with a spell check option.

We'd love to have perfect punctuation, but the truth is that we try not to let this blog take over our entire lives. We both have full time jobs, lives and families. If this ever became a full time job we'd certainly make sure to hire an editor ; )

wph is doing a great job. they are providing free content and interviewing kids like they are people and not a commodity. they've come quite a ways since the DMC fiasco.

There are a lot of NC State fan sites that "make us look retarded." TWW is one of them. WPH is most definitely not. WPH shows that fans care about the players once they leave school. It shows that fans can share a positive outlook on the team instead of forever bitching about everything that's going wrong. WPH shows that not all State fans are cynical, bitching lunatics that ran their previous coach, who was both a class act and modestly successful in a tough conference, straight out of town.

WPH is what I believe to be a positive reflection of a fanbase badly in need of a PR facelift.

I imagine he's kind of ticked b/c he handles things with our staff very professionally. He releases the info they want public when they want it public. I don't think he really knows a whole lot that they don't want him to know either (ie who we're REALLY after, the exact level of interest a guy has in us vs other schools) - the football guy (Steve Williams) seems a little bit better there but he isn't as active as James. Also when they interview kids it's def. a press to athlete thing.

WPH has a source on the inside for their info and they talk to recruits like they're peers. It's kinda similar to the print media vs internet media rage that went on a couple years ago I imagine, except now it's a dude working for a company on the internet vs a couple dudes with a blog. Really wph is like if gravis decided he wanted to start his own website and instead of being a cryptic fuck and posting smilies like he wants to get gay with the 30 fifty year olds that stalk him; he got a big mouth, posting up all the rumors he hears from his friends (some of which may be premature or bad ideas altogether - Cousins) and throws up any other random bullshit he can, with bad grammar and spelling of course (though the vids are very nice). Oh, and after a massive public campaign on packpride about his free site suddenly he just pulled in $700 of donations. now I know the wph guys didnt really plan it out like that, but yea

Also, there's a competition thing boiling for sure. James got pissed when SFN (the undisputed worst NC State fan site on the web) posted that The Wolfpacker broke the Painter commit when it was really the Maryland Rivals people that had the info (actually the fortytwo guy had them all beat iirc, but who gives a fuck?)

on the full games, there was opportunity to watch Harrow play a good amount as Walton broadcasted most of their games live. I'm sure they'll be back up next season if you want to waste a friday night watching a bunch of high school kids on a shitty feed.

just wanted to clear up the way we operate since I'm seeing a lot of assumptions:

1) The reason our interviews read like conversations is because instead of running up to a recruit and jamming a mic in their face, we think you can get a better, more real feel for player by simply talking with them.

2) I hope you do not get the feeling that we are disrespectful with our information, because we certainly are not. Everything we post, since the Cousins fiasco, is run by the basketball program before it is released to ensure that it is not detrimental to the University or the program.

3) We're really trying to correct any and all grammatical errors in our writing. We see that it is very important to a lot of people, however I feel like if you've read our site recently you'd see that we've been really focusing on our grammar and using spell check. We'll continue to work on this.
