Still boots into Safe Mode. I did as much researching on the issue as I could stomach, said fuck it, and did a hard reset. The fucker still boots into safe mode. What, the fuck. 6/21/2011 8:11:30 AM |

I'm also thinking of getting a tablet computer, but to help me in the lab and office, so I'd need Excel on it. I'm attracted to the Transformer since the keyboard mount looks pretty cool from the ~5 minutes I've looked into this.
Does the Transformer have Office? And why choose it over, say, a Motorola Xoom?
I only need Wifi.6/21/2011 3:16:46 PM |

Other than the manufacturer, it's not really much different than the Xoom. Still runs Honeycomb and for excel you'd need to use something like quick office or documents to go which have their limitations. 6/21/2011 3:33:37 PM |

I agree and can see why, though for the most part it would be for doing "fill in the blank" calculations for formulas or referencing spreadsheets of data.

I watched a youtube review of the asus transformer and I think I'm sold just by the tech guy admitting that it doesn't need rooting out of the box and that websites automatically load in desktop mode.
Plus he said it is smoother than the Xoom, which I was leaning strong towards at first.
Galaxy Tab is too small for my interests 6/21/2011 8:43:29 PM |

Two questions: Can you use an Android phone without a sim card/activating the phone? I know with iPhones you can just pop them into airplane mode and you're good to go -- just want to make sure that's the case.
Also, I know that there are apps that will let you download normal Google Maps to the phone -- does whatever app that is (or another app) have the bike paths in it as well?
My end game here is to use an Android as a "GPS" for a bicycle, but without a data plan -- so basically just a digital map. 6/23/2011 10:13:36 AM |

I believe upon initial startup you touch each of the 4 corners of the screen in clockwise order, beginning with the top left corner...that should skip all the initial setup and basically just give you a wifi only device...i would assume the GPS would work as well6/23/2011 5:08:18 PM |

You don't have to activate Sprint devices to use them. WiFi works fine without 3G. I think emergency dialing and *2 will work as well. 6/23/2011 5:38:30 PM |

To our knowledge, Moto had no plans to unlock this phone yet. " |

Why does it have to be att if you don't want to activate it? 6/24/2011 12:40:16 AM |
Stein All American 19842 Posts user info edit post |
It all sort of depends. There's a chance it might get activated, but no guarantee, so I wanted to make sure it would do what I was looking for whether activated or not.
It still doesn't have to be AT&T, that's just an "if I had my choice; that's what I'd get" thing. 6/24/2011 12:45:47 AM |

Someone correct me if im wrong, but I thought our GPS apps still needed a network (wifi or 3g) to download the maps because they are not stored on the device like a regular GPS. when I lose signal on the road my map disappears from my GPS app. 6/24/2011 8:55:32 AM |

Yeah, he'll need to buy one of the apps that has offline maps. Believe the current version of google maps caches your route so it should still keep going if you go through somewhere with no service. Believe it's been mentioned that they're thinking about including offline maps with google maps in the future also. 6/24/2011 9:02:40 AM |

Quote : | "Sprint Wisens Up, Plans To Allow Bloatware Removal On Future Android Devices Posted by Cameron Summerson in News, Sprint Yesterday we told you that all the unwanted junk bundled with the EVO 3D could be removed like any other app, a feature that no other phone/carrier had previously offered. Personally, I thought it was a fluke and Sprint would quickly release an OTA update to lock these apps in place – but I couldn’t have been more wrong. As it turns out, Sprint actually did this on purpose. Yeah, breathe that in for a minute. Got it? Okay, here’s the deal: in an unprecedented display of customer love, Sprint is going to allow bloatware to be uninstalled from all future Android devices. It’s pretty obvious that Sprint actually listens to its customers – something that AT&T and Verizon should seriously consider doing every once in a while. Of course, if they don’t, we all may need to switch to the Now Network." |

my Droid2 Global has always been like this, but when you have it plugged into USB in 'Charge only' mode, the unlock swipe is slow and in general the touch screen is less responsive than when unplugged...if plugged into wall charger or car charger, this doesn't happen, only when plugged into USB, even though its Charge Only
anyone else experience this, or is it isolated to the D2G? 6/25/2011 11:10:57 PM |
