With the latest updates EA also killed most of the stat tracking websites. They had no XML solution to allow live updates by 3rd party websites without causing a big delay on the login and browsing systems (or so Gamespy says).

Until a solution is made (they say there is one being worked on) the http://www.bf2s.com site is still working in intervals after making a deal with EA/Gamespy. Although he did remove signatures... at least the stats seem accurate and work

Not having played BF1942 really... I really destroyed my stats for a couple of days. You can tell I've been spending way too much time in a tank the last few days trying to fix them Really wish I had more time in my schedule to get up to the levels a lot of the people I know play at....

First off, I am a fanatic gamer. Every month or so is a world wide cyber gaming tournament that allows gamers to compete for thousands of dollars and preview upcoming games. It is heaven besides a brew, blunt and woman pleasing you. I played battlefield2 all day for a week at the summer event http://www.thecpl.com. The game is really worth getting. I have previewed all games coming out in the future and this one has the best gameplay, the best teamplay, and will keep you locked in your room for hours. It was by far the most popular spot at a convention of knowledgable gamers. Get it.

I doubt they'll add any more emplacements for AA. What they'll do is make it easier to hit a jet with the missiles.

When I'm flying around, I've got that annoying "you're locked on bitch" tone in my ear most of the time. The ONLY time I'll use flares is if I've got a plane in my sights and I HAVE to fly my current course so I can kill whats in front of me. Most of the time, all you have to do is change course by 90 degrees and you avoid the missile.

Making it easier to hit us would probably relieve your hatred of us. Although we'll figure out a new way to avoid your peashooters, for a short period of time after they "fix" the planes you'll enjoy shooting us down.

Today I was flying around in the F15. As soon as the J10 pilot got behind me, there was nothing I could do.

I'm pretty good with a airplane. it's just that it's impossible to shoot one down when you're not in a airplane. I shot about 5 rounds of stingers at one, once. Not a single hit. Ea, fked up there.

I agree.. although I really wish more people could fly jets so I never have to.. whenever I actually venture onto a map with jets I highly dislike flying them because I generally wind up doing it simply to take out the other jet which is causing a lot of trouble. Sure... the other jet stops killing the team... but all the time waste in dogfights could be used elsewhere for my own benefit and I'm not really out to sacrifice my score to help some random pubbie team of assholes win

oh.. and I don't know if it was bad luck or what - but unless I'm trying to get an impossible stinger sniper shot or something I've generally been able to hit my target with them

the trick to the ground based stinger is to wait until you can SEE THE AFTERBURNER.

The missiles actually track to hotter shit better. This includes shooting at the jet when its going away from you. I can tell you that Its much easier to avoid a missile I can see coming at me then one thats coming from behind me.

Its funny to have stingers be locked on to me... I line up the nme helo in front of me, kill the engines and the missile locks onto the helo instead of me. Fucking hilarious.


On a new note, a new initiative to get EA to get their shit straight. Lots of people are still having problems with the patch, and my waiting 10 minutes to join a server bug has killed the experience for me.

I have discovered (or at least I did a while back since I still don't have a compatible soundcard) that Zhisheng's tip about going into a no-throttle loop is about the single best tactic to try to get someone off of your 6. In order to make it as effective as possible, it helps greatly to have all viewpoints easily mapped so that you can toggle them while you go into the loop. If you can't seem to shake your pursuer off, immediately cut throttle to zero and pull back hard on the stick. You'll have enough power to get through the apex of the loop, and your momentum will help you glide down on the other side. Odds are extremely good that your pursuer will have tried to afterburn all the way through the loop to try to get a tight-turn-radius gun shot lined up (which is the only way you can be killed since missiles can't turn tight enough in a loop), but he'll overshoot you on the descent and you can throttle back up and chase him. It's not anywhere as effective as an airbrake, but I definitely found a huge increase in my "survivability when attacked from behind." Out of about 30 attempts with this maneuver, I only got shot down once by a guy who I had used the trick on several times in a row. I did also manage to give chase and shoot down about 10 of the guys who were originally chasing me as well, which ain't easy to do in an F-15. If he doesn't take the bait, then you can always just try an Immelman or a Split-S to throw him off.

the stalling loop is played out and easy enough to respond to.

Fact of the matter is if someone's on your tail without the A2A lock and they get right up on your ass theres nothing you can do.

I'm not going to necessarily boycott the expansion pack, but for goodness sakes EA/DICE need to get on the ball with some of this shit. Their patches have been jokes quite honestly. I can't remember the last time a patch was recommended NOT to be installed for a game.

So yeah, this game is fun as fuck. My only real beef with it is map load times which makes it annoying to join and leave servers till' I find one I like. Any good server reccomendations or at least one frequented by the people in this thread?

I'm getting good in the Super Cobra finally. I spent most of a 3-map rotation flying yesterday. They fly totally different than the choppers in BFV did. Now that I'm getting used to it I kind of like it. Sucks though that most people who jump in to gun don't have a clue wtf they are doing. I got lucky yesterday and had one guy out of 4 or 5 that jumped in that knew what to do. He actually hit another chopper with the guided TV missle, which was pretty cool.

Oh and with the choppers there are really easy ways to evade jets with missles. The real problems are the Linebackers and like vehicles, they will fuck you up.
