basically they had a few reasons to think the canes would stink, and all those reasons manifested themselves in the loss. so basically it was a chance for the analysts to collectively yell, "I TOLD YOU SO!!" 11/16/2005 1:32:51 AM |

3 games in 4 nights
oh.... and about that fight
1. it was nothing 2. it was for show mostly 3. nobody landed any punches
if you think that was a real fight, you dont know ice hockey
the canes are now #3 in the league, which is awesome

It wasn't a Probert-style fight, no, but McGrattan has quickly become the East's marquee fighter, and Boulerice beat him. 11/16/2005 10:49:31 AM |

Gerber impresses me the more I watch him (Saturday not included, but you can't place all the blame on goaltending).
One single loss (granted, it was a blowout) and suddenly everyone (outside of the area) is like, "OMFG, I TOLD YOU THEY AREN'T THAT GREAT" How about you focus more on the defending Stanley Cup champions Tampa Bay, who can't blame a short offseason for their slow start.
the comments from the Sens fans on TSN (http://tsn.ca/nhl/news_story/?ID=143211&hubname=nhl) just kill me. My favorite comes from SAIT, who said: "The Hurricanes Payed ottawa to lose"

haha yeah, those guys cant handle losing to us. Some of the posts at the bottom are giving us a little respect though. I can't wait to see their reaction next week, win or lose after our rematch 11/16/2005 12:40:29 PM |
NCSUAli All American 2554 Posts user info edit post |
^win or lose on the 22nd, we still won't get the respect from those fans. We could sweep Ottawa and the fans will still be whiny bitches who try to find unreasonable blame when the Ottawa players themselves gave respect to the Canes. They had a SHITLOAD of chances to tie it up lastnight in the 3rd period with all the powerplay chances they were given, but they couldn't produce.
Gerber + Penalty Kill > Ottawa Powerplay. End of story.

"He caught me with a couple of lefts ... I'd give the edge to him," said McGrattan. "I admit it when I lose. I'm not one of those guys who says he wins every fight. I got knocked down ... it's part of fighting. There's a little respect there both ways. I asked him if he wanted to go Round 2 and he said yeah, but we never got out there at the same time again," he revealed. "Maybe next week in Carolina, if he's up for it."

anyone know what percent of our goals are scorred in the 3rd period?
id guess a least 60%
the canes now have 27 pts having played 3 games less then detriod with 31 pts...since we average more then 1 pt per game, that means, we are the number one team in the league

Don't believe it has been posted here yet, but Vasicek's MRI results determined that he has to have reconstructive surgery on an anterior cruciate ligament, and he will likely be out 4-6 months.
There's a rumor circulating that Carolina is trying to get Jason York to sign with them (he's playing in Europe now). 11/17/2005 10:59:04 PM |

props to my favorite Hurricane, and one of the classiest, nicest guys you'll ever meet.
I am so glad he got some recognition from the fans, because I feel he is truly the heart of the team. He always has something nice to say about the team, the fans, and the city. He always has time to speak with a fan too.
funny thing is, I bought my family to the game 2 saturdays ago, and took them down for autographs afterwards. All my mom had available to get signed was a magnetic schedule featuring brind'amour. rod signed it, and then adams came up and didnt know where to sign it(because there werent many places a black pen would show up on it). So I told him to pick the night he would get a hat trick, and sign it there. Sure enough, the 'K' in Kevyn is right on tonights game on the schedule 11/18/2005 1:24:47 AM |
