http://www.hulu.com/watch/61639/edmunds-inside-line-2009-chevrolet-corvette-zr1-vs-2009-nissan-gt-r-comparison-test
Great video comparing the 09 GT-R with the 09 ZR-1.
Results: The ZR-1 is a faster, more capable vehicle in every metric. Not surprising a bit that the GT-R manages 0-60 in 3.8 seconds without voiding the warranty.
However the 11.5sec 1/4 mile from the ZR-1 was a surprise, as was it's skidpad, slalom and braking performance (1.06g, 74.7mph, and 96ft 60-0), compared to 0.9g, 74mph, 106ft for the GT-R.
It's a shame that the demand for the ZR-1 is so high it's being marked up almost 30k in many markets. The GT-R is only seeing 5-8k markups. For nearly double the cost, it's hard to say that extra performance is worth it (for the Corvette). Even though it won every metric, the GT-R is the clear winner in the wallet, at least until Chevy begins firesales during bankruptcy 3/10/2009 11:06:27 PM |

how do you figure that? they clearly said they used launch control mode to achieve the time, which has caused a number of warranties to be voided and/or claims denied. unless there has been some drastic change in policy very recently, nissan has stood firm on that. the manual also clearly states that using that mode should only be used for gently rocking to car back/forth to free it from snow or mud.
i can agree with the gt-r being the clear winner in value on paper. however, there are several variables that could close that gap in a real hurry. namely, cost of ownership and any upgrades or modifications you wanted to do.
realistically though, it's kind of an unfair matchup. the zo6 is a much better comparison the the gt-r.3/13/2009 2:38:03 PM |
