They're my team, mainly because back in the day they had Malone and Stockton, but also because they always seem like the underdog. Also, no one else seems to like them, so someone has to.
On a related note, they were lackluster as heck last night. 5/23/2007 9:51:33 AM |

give Sloan a couple more years to coach Deron and Booz and they'll be fine...but this year they just don't have what it takes to beat the Spurs 5/23/2007 10:25:56 AM |

hell, they could have possibly won both games if they didnt screw the pooch in each of the 2nd quarters.
they were down 41-58 and still managed to make it competitive.
that just comes with being young and playing against an experienced team. They will be fine in the next few years, but Kirelenko (sp) has GOT to be able to consistently hit a mid-range jumper if he is going to be a viable option on that team. 5/23/2007 10:32:13 AM |

no... both teams are loaded and are championship caliber teams but... the pistons have the edge at every position exceptttttt of course, center, but.... the pistons loaded up with big men this year in order to deal with the lack of a dominant center (chris webber, dale davis, jason maxiell, antonio mcdyess, rasheed wallace) all of them can play duncan as strongly as they'd like to keep him in control and thus...

I think Pistons-Spurs would be way too close to call.
I really have no idea who would win that series but I bet it would go 7 games.
The Spurs would easily dispose of the Cavs though 5/23/2007 2:58:52 PM |

Lebron has to come out and score ~10 points in the first quarter tonight. He needs to be assertive on offense and stop waiting for the fucking double team on every play. He should get to the free throw line a decent amount tonight since the refs were probably given instructions not to ignore the contact everytime he drives to the basket.
It's almost a good thing that he's on such an abysmal team, it'd be uninteresting if he was paired with good talent and just rolled over the entire league.
Its kinda like the Jordan vs the Pistons series back in the day. Can one guy will a team past a superior opponent?
Wish list:
1) Hughes to stop shooting threes
2) Snow to stop shooting period
3) Pavlovic to aim AT the basket tonight
4) Sideshow Bob to keep dominating the interior
The Pistons are gonna have to shoot a lot better to get the win tonight... 5/24/2007 7:30:21 PM |

not saying its over I just think its funny that all the attention was on Detroit playing "bad" in game 1 when in reality they aren't really much better than Cleveland.
I think they're the favorites to win the series due to experience and homecourt advantage but you'd be crazy to think Cleveland cant win this series.
If it was for Jason Maxiell having a monster first half this would be a ~20 point game right now. 5/24/2007 9:36:42 PM |

Mike Brown is blowing this series.
I dont know why he insists on double teaming Chauncey Billups 30 feet from the basket and leaving Detroit open 3 pointers.
Also i cant understand why he doesnt get Lebron involved on offense. That would be cool. 5/24/2007 10:31:20 PM |

The announcers are going overboard about the Lebron taking shots thing.
Lebron dribbled into the middle of like 4 pistons and had to pick up his dribble, passes it to a wide open guy, and the announcers say "he has to take that shot"
That would have been a terrible shot. 5/24/2007 10:53:40 PM |

Though, I hate the way Lebron HAD to take the shot or continue to get criticized. The end of game 1 was a good basketball play. We criticize Kobe for NOT making that pass.

Ugh, thats a tough loss.
Another bad game from Lebron and they still almost won on the road. The supporting cast just can't hit a shot to save their lives.
I just hope some of these calls start going the other way in Cleveland. I know he's not a great FT shooter but when each game has been decided by one bucket, it'd be nice to have an extra couple FT attempts.
Its so weird that D.Wade was sent to the line everytime he drove to the basket but when Lebron gets bodied up he can't get a legitimate call. 5/24/2007 10:59:58 PM |

So what will PTI/ATH/Sportcenter complain about Lebron for this time??? He took it to the rack, got fouled with no call??? Looks like the kick to a wide open Marshall in game one considering the circumstances of game two wasn't such a dumb decision after all 5/24/2007 11:01:40 PM |

they were down two last game so the 3 would have won it and the 2 would have tied
only down 1 tonight so Lebron could have won the game, however, I think he should have waited a little longer to attack

^^ That still doesn't change the fact that he was fouled twice on that play, Hamilton mugged him just shy of the top of the key right when Lebron started and then halfway bear hugged him on the shot. Detroit is the beast of the east, and the refs sadly bought into that big time. Many playoff games come down to the wire and the last 90 seconds are always going to be what's talked about in the postgame over what happens in the first 46 minutes of a close game with a controversial ending.
This series is OVER now

^ whoa, thats totally premature. Detroit was up 2-0 last year too. Cleveland will be significant favorites in Game 3 and probably slight favorites in game 4. No reason they can't rattle off four straight wins once they get in a groove and have some momentum. Detroit's already shown their hand they really can't expect to play much better. Hopefully Cleveland will stop going ice cold in the 2nd half.
The only thing that really worries me is that I'm not convinced Maxiell had a fluke game.
He's got some serious athleticism and he's definitely a better option than Webber or McDyess against Cleveland.
He really neutralized Varejao's great play this game.
Big Z was awful tonight, coulda used any production out of him.
