I am hoping the panthers pick up MLB Siler, OLB Shaw. I'd even take a chance on Abbate, I like his motor and he would be cheap depth. Josh Gattis is definitly the best S remaining. I assume Chris Leak won't last till the 6th but if he did, I'd love to see the panther pick him up

you know, almost every fucking player in the draft has been described as 'has a great motor'. That shit is becoming a tad cliche. And what does it really mean...just some intangible way of saying the kid is playing football.

what I mean is Abbate doesn't take plays off or give up on plays there are plenty players on the board that do. You won't hear Dwayne Jarrett or a few other guys having a good motor

AJ Davis going this high is good, but a bit of a surprise. One of the sites I saw had him listed as a mid 6th rounder, but I figured with his speed alone he'd be at worst a 5th rounder.

And Tennessee must be coming around on the NC State players, Leroy joining Tulloch.

Plus that means our 3 players expected to be drafted went ahead of the only UNC player expected to be drafted, haha.

"Ryne Robinson
Height: 5-8
Weight: 178
Position: Wide Receiver/Return Specialist
College: Miami (Ohio)

Copyright NFLDraftScout.com, distributed by The Sports Xchange

OVERVIEW

The nation's active career leader in both punt-return yardage (1,677) and punt-return touchdowns (seven), Robinson also excelled as a receiver for the RedHawks. In addition to rewriting several school, conference and Division 1 records on the gridiron, Robinson was also a standout left fielder and second baseman for three seasons for the baseball team.

Robinson lettered three times in football at Central Catholic High School, where he competed as a wide receiver and defensive back. He was a three-time all-city and two-time all-district selection, adding 2002 District Offensive Player of the Year honors. The speedy receiver had 62 receptions for 1,035 yards (16.7-yard average) and 16 touchdowns as a senior. He averaged 25.3 yards per punt return that season, returning two for touchdowns, and also grabbed five interceptions. Robinson led the team to a 27-8 record during his career.

Robinson enrolled at Miami University in 2003 and immediately established himself as one of the elite punt returners in the nation, setting school and Mid-American Conference records with 654 yards and three touchdowns on 38 returns (17.2-yard average). He saw action in 14 games as a reserve split end, grabbing 28 passes for 468 yards (16.7 avg.) and two scores, adding 12 yards on three carries. He amassed 1,159 all-purpose yards and also completed 1 of 2 passes for 20 yards.

Robinson split the 2004 spring between football camp and the baseball team, earning Second-Team All-Mid American Conference accolades. The versatile athlete played in 46 games, starting 13 games at second base and 22 in the outfield. He ranked second on the team with 18 stolen bases and batted .316 for the season.

On the gridiron, Robinson started 6 of 13 games at split end for an injured Martin Nance in 2004. He led the team with 64 receptions for 932 yards (14.6 avg.) and four touchdowns, but lost 9 yards on six rushing attempts. Robinson returned 39 punts for 547 yards (14.0 avg.) and a pair of scores, adding 135 yards on eight kickoff returns (16.9 avg.). He also completed 1 of 2 tosses for a 31-yard touchdown, finishing the year with 1,605 all-purpose yards.

The talented athlete lettered with the school's baseball team again in 2005. He started 60 games in the outfield, earning All-MAC second-team honors. He set the school records for triples (eight) and stolen bases (34), leading the conference in both categories.

With the football team, Robinson took over flanker duties, starting every game in 2005. Despite leading the conference in punt returns and ranking second with an average of 101.73 yards per game receiving, he was awarded All-MAC honors. He made 75 catches for 1,119 yards (14.9 avg.) and eight touchdowns, gaining 108 yards on 13 carries (8.3 avg.). He returned 26 punts for 301 yards (11.6 avg.) and a score while picking up 1,528 all-purpose yards, an average of 138.91 yards per game.

Robinson split the 2006 spring between football camp and the baseball team for a third consecutive year. He batted only .253 in 51 games, a career-low, but led the team with 13 stolen bases.

In football, the 2006 season was a personal triumph for Robinson, though a disappointment for the team, as the RedHawks went 2-10. Robinson shifted back to flanker, ranking second in the nation with 7.58 receptions per game and fifth nationally with an average of 98.17 yards receiving a game. He hauled in a career-high 91 passes for 1,178 yards (12.9 avg.) and eight touchdowns. He rushed three times for 11 yards and completed 2 of 3 passes for 69 yards. Robinson returned 18 punts for 175 yards and a touchdown. He also averaged 113.67 all-purpose yards per game.

Robinson started 29 of 50 games in his career. He caught 258 passes for 3,697 yards (14.3 avg.) and 22 touchdowns. He rushed 25 times for 122 yards (4.9 avg.) and completed 4 of 7 passes (57.1 percent) for 120 yards and a score. Robinson gained 1,677 yards on 121 punt returns (13.9 avg.) and seven touchdowns, all school and conference records. He also had eight kickoff returns for 135 yards (16.9 avg.) and recorded one solo tackle. The speedy athlete finished his career with 5,656 all-purpose yards, an average of 113.12 yards per game.
ANALYSIS

Positives: Compensates for a lack of size and bulk with very quick feet and excellent in-stride balance … Has loose hips to generate stop-and-go action, making the initial tackler miss, and the body control to make adjustments to haul in off-target throws … Shows very good flexibility on the move and has the timed speed and good movement ability to take the ball long distances … Dangerous route runner, especially when he gets a clean release off the snap … Has natural playing speed and good explosion to separate after the catch (see 2006 Northwestern, Purdue and Western Michigan games) … Agile and elusive racing past the second level and has the suddenness in his plant-and-drive to explode in and out of his breaks … Best when utilized on deep routes, where he can ride up and eat the cushion with his explosion, but will get taken down by the initial tackle due to strength issues … Has the burst to stretch the defense and uses his loose hips and change-of-direction agility to turn up field quickly on screens and sideline routes … Will never be able to power through tackles, but has the loose hips and stop-and-go action to make second level defenders miss … Has the quickness and awareness to separate underneath and the second gear to stretch the defense … Better served on deep or sideline routes, where he can be isolated on a defender rather than operating in traffic … The thing that jumps out on film is Robinson's balance and body control running with the ball … Has the leaping ability to make plays in the air and shows the loose hip flexibility to plant-and-drive coming out of his breaks … Natural hands catcher who fields the punts well and does a good job of catching outside his frame … When working underneath, Robinson excels at opening his hips and generating a burst to quickly elude linebackers and safeties … Elusive open-field runner whose quick feet and change-of-direction agility let him separate after the catch.

Negatives: Has a small frame with marginal muscle development, thin hips, small lower-leg structure and minimal room to add additional bulk without having it affect his speed … Decent student, but because of his time with the baseball team, he lost out on valuable practice experience during the offseason … Unless Robinson gets a clean release off the snap, he is quickly defeated by the physical press … Has shorter-than-ideal arms to extend and push off the defender and lacks the strength to muscle the opponent … Shows a fearless nature going over the middle, he is too small and frail to combat for the ball in traffic … Displays very good quickness in and out of his cuts, but tends to take soft angles in his routes … Able to separate well, but needs to be taught how to be cleaner in his breaks and crisper in his routes (tends to drift) … Much better when used vertically, as he doesn't have the size to go horizontal across the field … Shows nimble feet keeping inbounds making the sideline grabs, but needs to be more alert to pocket pressure, as he is slow at times working back to the ball … Will try to challenge in a crowd, displaying good timing and leaping agility, but gets ping-ponged too much over the middle, as he hears the defender's footsteps, leading to several dropped balls … Has very good timing and leaping ability, but because of size issues, he will struggle to compete for jump balls (had 20 passes deflected against him in the past two years) and needs to be utilized catching the ball in stride rather than having to leap and extend for the catch … After three years of good ball security, Robinson struggled a bit with ball security in 2006, as he turned the ball over three times on four fumbles (see Kent State, Western Michigan and Ohio University games) … Once a defender gets a piece of his jersey, the battle is quickly over, though, as he lacks the power and leg drive to break tackles … Not only lacks strength and size to face up as a blocker, he also seems hesitant to take on linebackers and cut linebackers at the second level … Needs to show more desire blocking, even if it is only to occupy space.

Compares To: Roscoe Parrish, Buffalo (Miami, Fla.) -- Like Parrish, Robinson is not going to scare any defender as a blocker and will struggle vs. strong press coverage. But if given room to operate, he has the loose hips, explosion and change-of-direction agility to be a dangerous open-field runner … He is one of the finest punt returners in the history of college football and he could make a very nice living on special teams at the next level … He is not as fast as Chicago's Devin Hester … Like Parrish, Robinson needs to be accounted for each time he touches the ball, as he has proven to be effective on reverses, deep routes and also displays a strong arm when asked to throw.
INJURY REPORT

No injuries reported.
AGILITY TESTS

Campus: 4.47 in the 40-yard dash … 290-pound bench press … 390-pound squat … 277-pound power clean … 36-inch vertical jump … 29¾-inch arm length … 9½-inch hands … Right-handed."

"Dante Rosario
Height: 6-3
Weight: 225 Position: Tight End
College: Oregon

Copyright NFLDraftScout.com, distributed by The Sports Xchange

OVERVIEW

Rosario lacks the size to be a traditional tight end, but his natural receiving skills make him an intriguing H-back prospect worthy of consideration on the draft's second day.

He is known as a selfless player who signed with Oregon as a linebacker before being switched first to fullback, then tight end. He is also an accomplished special teams performer.

He is coming off a 42-catch, 426-yard season in 2006 that included one receiving touchdown.
ANALYSIS

Positives: Natural receiver who made the transition from fullback to tight end over the final two seasons of his career … Surprisingly athletic, Rosario can generate yards after the catch and is tough to bring down … Blessed with soft hands and quick change of direction to develop into a fine route-runner.

Negatives: Bit of a 'tweener' … Lacks the stoutness and power to hold up as a blocker at the point of attack and is more quick than fast as a receiver.
INJURY REPORT

No injuries reported.
AGILITY TESTS

Combine: 4.78 in the 40-yard dash … Bench pressed 225 pounds 20 times … 36-inch vertical jump … 9-foot-7 broad jump … 4.47 20-yard shuttle … 12.14 60-yard shuttle … 6.96 three-cone drill.
HIGH SCHOOL

The 2002 Oregon 2A state defensive player of the year earned first-team all-state honors on both offense and defense in 2002 while leading the Pirates to the state title … Ranked as the No. 6 linebacker on the West Coast by SuperPrep after posting 144 tackles (75 unassisted) and three sacks as a free safety/middle linebacker to go along with 1,238 yards rushing in 2002 … The West Valley League standout also scored 27 offensive touchdowns in addition to returning three of five interceptions into the end zone and two punts for touchdowns … Paced his team to a 56-6 victory over Jefferson early his senior year, turning two of his three carries at running back into touchdowns in addition to returning a punt 52 yards for another score … Rushed for more than 1,000 yards as a sophomore in only his second season of organized football while the four-year letterman also excelled in basketball for the school's two-time defending state champions.
PERSONAL

Born Dante Santiago Rosario on Oct. 25, 1984 in Beaverton, Ore. … Parent: Pedro Rosario … High School coach was Dayton (Dewey Sullivan) 2003 … Political Science major. "

whats the deal with Brandon Siler from Florida? He was graded out pretty high by most places and everywhere I looked, they expected him to be gone by 3rd at the latest. I would like to pick him up as hopefully a steal but we really need a Safety unless we are trying to move Davis back to Safety

are any of you following the draft on espn's draft tracker and voting in poles every now and then when they come up? it seems like every single pole is 50-50 or 48-52 not one so far has been lopsided.

... Houston should have grabbed Michael Bush when they could. He will end up being the 2nd best back in this draft IMO

it seems to me that if i was a GM, i wouldn't place nearly as much weight on an injury as i might have 10 years ago. rehab programs and surgical procedures have become so precise and refined that there are very few "career ending" injuries anymore. i think michael bush will be an example of that

i'm not a cards fan although i do follow adrian wilson (and now terrence holt) but i really think they put together a great draft:

2 33 Branch, Alan DT 6-6 331 Michigan
3 69 Davis, Buster ILB 5-10 244 Florida State
5 142 Breaston, Steve WR 6-0 178 Michigan
7 215 Patrick, Ben TE 6-4 270 Delaware
