how many times have you guys had to replace your les paul batteries? I think my first set just died and it seemed like it was way too soon. Obviously playtime is a factor, but still...

also, what was this latest update for?

the whole "strumming up and down" while hitting the colored buttons is like patting your head while rubbing your stomach.

At first I didn't think much of this game, but my little brother let me try a little bit of it just now. This game is a lot more fun and addicting than I imagined it would be. I'm almost tempted to get an XBox so I can play it.

OK - How is this on the Wii?

Is there a way to have 2 guitars yet?

it is fun on the wii.
you can have 2 guitars and play in coop mode, or face off against each other.

Question... co-op mode, is that only available in as career co-op. In Guitar Hero II, you could just go to multiplayer and do a multiplayer quick play co-op type deal, but when I look in multiplayer on III, all I see is face off, pro face off, and battle.

you might as well just form a co=op career mode and get some money. it's not like you can't skip through the set ending movies.

on wii you can play two if the other person has the game and brings their guitar right? I can't find that they are selling just another guitar....yet.

Have you played through all the tutorials? The last one actually does help out a little bit with some techniques on how to switch. There's really nothing to say except for practice. I find myself moving my hand a lot back and forth, but if I had to recommend one position over the other I would suggest pinky on the orange, first finger does double duty with red and green over the one suggested above. My pinky just isn't "advanced" enough to reach for two buttons on a regular basis.

Yeah I tried reaching and that just doesnt work, basically you just have to practice enough so that you can quickly switch your brain mode for everything moving down one finger. Green becomes Red, Red becomes yellow etc. thats what worked best for me. The real hard ones are having to hold green and orange at the same time... seriously fuck that shit!

I made the switch from medium to hard through the first Guitar Hero, it was a lot more merciful for n00bs in that area. The first few songs in hard barely used the orange button. I just worked my way up. I guess unless you have a PS2 though, that won't help you that much.

here's what i did:

i got guitar hero 2 for the xbox 360. played 1 song on easy and decided it was too easy. switched to expert and played (and failed) over and over and over again. lather, rinse, repeat. after duking it out with expert for a while, all the other difficulties are a cake walk, even if you're still sucking it up on expert.

^it's true, as strange as it sounds, if you're struggling at a certain difficulty level, switch up to the next harder one, and even though it will probably be kicking your ass, once you go back down again everything seems like cake and you'll wonder how the hell you were struggling so much on it

I just played guitar hero for the first time over the weekend. I suppose all of them are like this, but I was disappointed by the fact that the songs are the same in each difficulty level. I was hoping there would be a new set of songs to tackle once I changed levels but, as you know, they were the same ones. It makes going back and doing each difficulty more boring IMO.

I can see why they did it that way, but it would have been more interesting (to me) if it were different.

well, each set list increases in difficulty despite what setting you're on (easy, medium, etc)...so you really have 2 different difficulty curves

yeah, i have the wii version. it started working again randomly and haven't had a problem since. do you still have the fix? i'll google it in the meantime and see what i can find.

Edit. Just found where someone mentioned having the whammy bar down when inserting the controller will cause it to not work. I kind of thought it might be something like that based on the old N64 thing where the controller stick was calibrated based on its position when you turned the system on. Thanks for the heads up.

For Knights of Cydonia, I've found that I'm a lot better at being rhythmically consistent on the really fast shit if I tilt the guitar pretty far up, like I'm activating star power; for some reason, I have more control strumming rapidly back and forth than I do up and down. Also, on the galloping triplets three fourths of the way through the song, try holding your index finger on the green button and not letting it up at all; that way you're just alternating two fingers switching, and it goes to green when you lift them both. That should help as long as you've got biggish hands that can stretch across to orange while keeping green held down.

^^I didn't know you're a Guitar Hero fan. Or did you just want me to hold my index finger on your button while strumming rapidly?

Just got mine out of the box last night, having some problems with the guitar (xbox 360, wireless). The red button decides to stop working every once in a while, but taking the neck off and putting it back on seems to have fixed that for the time being. Also, the strummer wasn't clicking at first and had a tendancy to stick in the up or down position. I took the face plate off, jiggled the strummer a bit, then put the plate back on and now it at least clicks, but still doesn't move as freely as on the old guitar from GH2.

Does the les paul take a while to get broke in, or should I just take the whole thing back and exchange it?

face off is such a great addition to the game

pro is good, but the regular ole face off with the dueling guitar parts makes for some fun drunken times

^^^That seems to be a fairly common complaint with the detachable guitars. I had the same thing happen to me, and I ended up just returning the whole thing and getting my money back. There are fixes on the internet, mostly using rubberbands and glue and whatnot to hold the two pieces together properly.
