if you think Evans hasn't improved considerably since the bye week then you are stupid as shit and don't know anything about the sport of football.
Let's take a look at the Virginia corners that were playing? They are freshmen and definitely inexperienced so ofcourse Dana Bible is going to call a lot of passes to a receiver going against them and Evans made great reads finding the single coverage and putting it up there for the receiver to go get it.
When it wasn't single coverage Evans made brilliant plays to throw the ball away and not force it like we have seen him do in the past.
I don't see how you can say Evans has been lucky two games in a row putting up the numbers he has. And the poster that said that statistics is dangerous or whatever shit he was pulling out of his ass is fucking retarded. I mean FUCKING RETARDED.

were none of you around last season, when evans looked great beating ranked bc and ranked florida state in back to back weeks?
and everyone went around saying 'well now we've got a quarterback, we'll be alright'. and then teams caught on to his throw-it-up-off-the-back-foot style of play and we started losing? as in the final 7 games in a row?

^ as I thought I had clearly pointed out, some of you don't know shit about what you are talking about.
Daniel Evans in the BC/FSU game looked very good on a few select drives. He showed his potential on those select drives which just happened to come at the very end of the game to win.
Now the past 2 games Daniel Evans has been solid the entire 8 quarters. 10/28/2007 3:08:48 PM |

What's the over under on the number of INTs evans throws when facing a real team, again? 3 ints sounds goods.
7^You rebutted your own argument, idiot. The level of competition decreases, evans' performance increases. No shit, sherlock.
Someone stated it earlier -- no one is surprised that we beat a ranked team because UVA chokes every year and they have been barely squeaking out wins against shit teams. The only reason they didn't this time was because their QB got injured.

nope. UVA was definitely a poser. They were basically ranked 15 by default because voters can't penalize 1 loss teams in major conferences. It has nothing to do with the quality of football that UVA plays.
You don't know a lot about football if you don't know that's how polls work.
UVA barely beat a bunch of shitty teams and they have lost two two shitty teams. That's a ranked-by-default situation if there ever was one.
^repeating it over and over won't make it true, sweetie pie

the ecu and uva games went better overall than before the bye week, but no, i don't think evans is any better than he was. he's making the exact same throws.10/28/2007 3:28:35 PM |

but the key is he has more TIME to make better decisions on those throws
correct? you do agree with that?

yes i agree w/ that. when he has single coverage and time to throw, evans is fine.
when he doesn't have single coverage, or when he gets any sort of pressure on him whatsoever, he's terrible.
like i said, i'm not calling for him to come out, just be careful. remember last year when people wanted to make 'thank heavens for evans' shirts? it's the exact same deal. 10/28/2007 3:33:39 PM |

Comes from a guy who says Daniel Evans stats are not an indicator of how good he has played the last two weeks. 335 and 347 yards and 3 TDs each. Did you know Evans has the highest completion percentage in the ACC this year? But it is all luck right? Give me a fucking break
And hey Rat I never said we were going to lose. I said we don't need to get our expectations up. Anyone that has rooted for the school for at least a year knows better than that.10/28/2007 5:17:44 PM |

And wasn't Beck leading the ACC and in the top 10 in the nation for passing yardage the first couple games. When you're running game struggles and you're forced to throw, you're more likely to have a bunch of passing yards. Not taking anything from evans though, he put some good touch on those balls but I don't think he's our savior.

^^Turnovers far outweigh passing yards and completion percentage as an indicator of good play you fucking dumbass, and actually watching the games outweighs any stats.
Stats are for morons who are too stupid to watch a football game and judge what people actually did.

Quote : | "NC State sophomore wide receiver Donald Bowens is one of four nominees for the AT&T All-America Player of the Week award, and now it’s up to the fans to determine the winner.
Bowens was selected by ESPN based on his outstanding performance during the week. Fans can determine the winner by text messaging VOTE to 87654 on their wireless phone.
Bowens had 11 catches for 202 yards with two touchdowns, all career-highs, in the Wolfpack's 29-24 upset over Virginia. Bowens' 11 catches and 202 yards were also the most for a sophomore in school history. His 11 receptions ranked fifth all-time in school history overall, while his 202 yards were fifth, as well.
Fans have until 11:59 p.m. EST on Wednesday to submit their votes. The winner will be announced Nov. 1 during Thursday’s ESPN College Football Primetime Presented by Applebee’s college football game between Virginia Tech and Georgia Tech. There is no limit on fan voting, and each vote counts as one entry into a sweepstakes to win a trip to the 2008 BCS National Championship game in New Orleans, La.
The AT&T All-America Player of the Week program will continue throughout the season, with the nominees being revealed each Sunday on ESPN SportsCenter at 9 a.m. ET and on the Web at http://www.espnallamerica.com.
AT&T customers can visit AT&T’s wireless NCAA® Football Portal on their handsets to view video highlights of each week’s candidates, retrieve photos, check scorecards, track their favorite teams and download school ringtones." |
too bad the voting isn't online.

turnovers has definitely been the difference, we are actually forcing some. O-line is playing better. W. Young on weakside is working very good for us. we are by no means a great football team right now, but we are heading in the right direction 10/28/2007 8:26:14 PM |

we've improved so much though. i mean after our performance earlier this year, it really does seem like it's a new season for us.
it's also worth noting that we're not committing nearly as many turnovers.

^^^ unfortunately I think my best shot at coming to a home game this season was the UVA game, since it'll be impossible to get a friend to find me a ticket for the UNC game, but then I found out that my cousin was getting married that day. It's all good though b/c that wedding was fucking nuts. For one thing it was outside. They had a horse and carriage bring the bride her father, the flower girl and ring bearer to the gazebo under which they would be getting married. Everything was timed perfectly with the music. It was crazy, and they had a ton of wedding planners coordinating everything. I asked them how many times they had to rehearse it and it only took them once. Ryan Newman, the NASCAR driver, actually got married at that same place. I guess my new cousin found out about the place from someone in racing since he works in the racing business.
Maybe I could find some tickets to the game at Wake or maybe State will win out and I can go to a bowl game. I did go to the game at BC though.

I don't know who was crowning Evans. Personally, I think he's been capable of this for the past 2 years but for some reason our o-line stopped playing after the FSU game last year. I don't think that will happen again this year and I also think Evans looked much better over the last 2 games than he did in the games against FSU and BC last year. He's standing in and looking off receivers and making better decisions...and not turning the ball over like its his job. I dont know why you wouldn't be excited about that.
Also, we ran the hell out of the ball in those 2 games last year. We've used the pass to set up the run in the past 2 games this year. 10/28/2007 9:19:07 PM |

I believe it was the group of drunks beside us in section 8 who were trying to get the wave started. They kept yelling to everyone "hey, lets start the wave". It was funny when it'd go from the band to the edge of the SWPC and then stop, finally it started going around. But wtf, don't try to start that shit on offense. I watched the game earlier today and one of the announcers was like "well I haven't seen the wave in 20yrs" or something like that.
