We are a very good situation for a top flight PG. We have a starting position that can easily be won, a good front court, and an NBA-style offense. Last year, Lowe made engin atsur look good running the pick and roll. There is no doubt that someone with the talent and skills can come in here and be a major part of the offense.

There's an identity problem or something. There is no team leader on the court. And the fact that Sid still calls plays from the bench everytime down the court bothers me as well. Maybe he's not letting someone take over the team on the court. Or it's probably that no one is stepping up (Grant).

yeah, that's what irks me the most about Sid's coaching. He needs to let his point guard call the plays. True, our point guards currently suck, but until they're given the opportunity to succeed or fail, they're not ever going to be able to run an offense by themselves.

The worst is when we're getting back on defense, and Sid's already trying to call the next offensive play.

My theory is that he's using too much of a NBA style with the way he treats the players.

He's clearly not demanding enough respect because its evident that hustle is not one of our priorities.

I don't think I've seen a player loaf under Coach K since Greg Newton and look what happened to him. Coach K stubbornly refused to play him and it tanked their season since he was their only big man.

At this point our season is still saveable but if it gets much worse I'm all for benching Costner until he gets his shit together.

I agree that its weird Lowe is still calling plays from the sideline.

i dont agree with basing whether or not you believe he can coach based on how lopsided a win is.

doesnt look like sid really cares what the final score is based on how deep he goes to the bench against these teams.

^^ Herb consistently lost to UNC even in the years we were better than UNC.

Last i checked UNC was undefeated this year. This isn't nearly as bad of a loss as Herb's routine 20 point thumpings when we were the better team.

Even the year we were a three seed we got swept by a .500 UNC team

We have two freshmen PG's who are just overwhelmed right now...i don't blame them. As much of a beast as Hickson is, he's still just a freshman.

Costner, Fells, Grant...where is the leadership? It is time to just clear the bench and make the "starters" EARN their spot back. Lowe needs to end this NBA-coddling-your-players mentality and bench these guys. I don't want to see another minute out of Costner this year until he shows he wants to play.
