Dodos Visiter is totally off the chain. It's the first time in awhile something dubbed "Best New Music" on Pitchfork has aligned with my tastes completely.

I have no qualms with pitchfork. While we may not always agree, I see it as a viable new source for music.

That first album from Tokyo Police Club leaked a while ago. One of my favorite "up-and-coming" bands. If you haven't heard the Lessons In Crime EP you should definitely check it out. As for sound: think of the first half of Silent Alarm and shorten the songs by 2 minutes.

Tokyo Police Club - Elephant Shell [2008]

1. "Centennial"
2. "In a Cave"
3. "Graves"
4. "Juno"
5. "Tessellate"
6. "Sixties Remake"
7. "The Harrowing Adventures Of..."
8. "Nursery Academy"
9. "Your English Is Good"
10. "Listen to the Math"
11. "The Baskervilles"

Check out:
Okay - Huggable Dust (dude has Crohn's Disease so he doesn't tour much)

im really digging the new Damiera album M(US)IC.

http://www.myspace.com/damiera

check out "Ember Eason." Very groovey bass and guitar lines. I think several people here might enjoy it. I wish the vocals were a bit more powerful at times but they get the job done more often than not.

I like the guitar solo on the raconteurs' "the switch and the spur" a LOT for some reason.

I had to restrain my stupid smile while walking back from class just now while listening to it.

Here's the Blitzen Trapper EP of unreleased studio stuff. I'm posting it because they played with the Fleet Foxes a few weeks ago at the Local 506 on March 23rd and I'm really pissed I missed it. Hopefully I'll catch the Fleet Foxes again, but I would like to hear if anyone here caught the show.

The Fleet Foxes are really getting a lot of hype (namely pitchfork giving them an 8.7) and I love their EP, so I would love to hear any feedback from those that went.

Blitzen Trapper
EP3 (Tour EP/March 2008)

01. Silver Moon
02. Going Down
03. Shoulder Full of You
04. Preacher's Sister's Boy
05. Black Rock
06. Big Black Bird

hxxp://link-protector.com/452325/

http://www.myspace.com/blitzentrapper and http://www.myspace.com/fleetfoxes -- I really like "English House" on the Fleet Foxes record. --- It sort of reminds me of The High Llama's meets Midlake.

Fleet Foxes -- Sun Giant

Quote :
"Weezer - Weezer 6/17

For the third time in six albums, Weezer has named a record Weezer. The latest - they're already referring to it as the Red Album - was cut in three sessions over the past year: The first was with Rick Rubin, the second was mostly self-produced, and the last was with Jacknife Lee (who produced U2's How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb.) "We put a lot of emphasis on blowing our minds with creative freakouts," frontman Rivers Cuomo says. Freakouts like "I'm the Greatest Man That Ever Lived," which blends piano, police sirens and Cuomo in falsetto mode. The probable first single, "Pork and Beans," was inspired by a record-company meeting where the band was told it needed to record more-commercial material. "I came out of it pretty angry," Cuomo says. "But ironically, it inspired me to write another song.""

If any of you haven't listened to the Fleet Foxes EP, Sun Giant I would like to urge you to listen to it.

It is fantastic. I don't buy into a lot of the pitchfork hype, but these guys deserved every point of that 8.7 they were given.

Fleet Foxes -- Sun Giant EP

Only 5 songs, but 4 of the songs are so incredibly good. Definitely for fans of Grizzly Bear. Damnit, I'm so pissed I missed their last show here.
