http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/8057172/Smith-to-Jarrett:-'You're-here-to-play-football'

Smith either hates Jarrett, or sees a lot of potential

^^haha at smitty at the end of that article

Quote :
"They re-signed Muhsin Muhammad, who was released by the Bears. Muhammad turns 35 in May, spent nine seasons with Carolina after he was picked in the second round of the 1996 draft and still holds three club records.

"A lot of people look at (his) age, but I think he's like fine wine," Smith said."

haha... WRAL story on Torry and Terrence Holt. Talking about how Torry wants to play for the Panthers and Terrence telling Fox that they were a package deal.

Steve Smith even chimed in and talked about how nice it would be.

How nice would that be?

I cant believe Rucker is retiring, he was drafted in 1999, thats only ~7 years of service

I know that your body takes a lot of damage in the NFL, but damn that just seems like a short ass career

he gave 9 solid years...i'm guessing he just wanted to get out before he had a really bad injury or something...plus he's lost some of his motor

I don't think he was quite ready to retire yet, but when it became clear that he wouldn't get an offer here, and it came down to either move somewhere else or retire, he decided he didn't want to try to restart his career somewhere else. He played nearly every single game over those years, so the wear and tear on him was probably worse than most guys.

About Rucker...9 years is alot in the trenches. Average NFL career is what 2-3 years?

About S. Alexander as next S. Dave...yeah right..only in a contract year. That man is scared to take a hit, and just does not have that burst to get through the hole. He should retire before he hurts himself.

I am of course kidding when I say he will be the next SD for us, but we really don't have any experienced RBs on the team...

I think he will come very cheaply to whoever picks him up and ya gotta think there is a chance he could rebound in the face of the "getting cut" humiliation...

I still am totally sketched out about our RB situation....

I want to draft Jonathan Stewart from Oregon....
3/13/2008 12:37:04 PM
"

ftw....

also according to ESPN insider:
Quote :
" This is a great pick by Carolina based on John Fox's run-heavy philosophy. This will also give QB Jake Delhomme more spacing in the passing game. With the concerns about whether DeAngelo Williams can be the guy at RB, Stewart can carry the ball on first and second down. Williams can then become a change-of-pace back. On top of that, he has the ability to return kickoffs and improve the Panthers' return game. He is an explosive player to the hole and displays a second gear when going through the hole. He reminds us of former Panthers running back Stephen Davis. "

Tells you that the panthers expect to make the playoffs if they trade 1st rounder for next year...

well even though i didnt want a rb in the first pick, i'm gonna try to be optimistic and hope this is a 1st round pick that pans out...panthers are what, like 3/10 in picking decent 1 round picks?

1996-(8) Tim Biakabutuka
1997-(27) Rae Carruth (lawl)
1998-(14) Jason Peter
1999-...
2000-(23) Rashard Anderson

I don't see any busts so, with this staff I think our first round picks have been at least "decent"

I'd love to get Dixon...if he hadn't gotten injured last season he would've been a Heisman finalist and a 1st round pick

and the Steelers just took him

If we are going to move up we would have the 6th and 7(a) along with next years picks or a player to do it. The compensatory picks 7(b) and 7(c) can not be traded.
