Ok well some of you may find this interesting. The gym that is home to the fictional Western University in the movie "Blue Chips" is actually Everett Case Arena in Frankfort, Indiana. Everett Case lived in Frankfort for over 20 years and coached the Frankfort High School boy's basketball team. Case was the first Indiana high school coach to win 4 state championships having done so in 1925, 1929, 1936, and 1939.

Here's some pictures of the arena which the Frankfort High boy's basketball team plays in. I had always wondered where that arena was located.

I'm guessing since Bobby Knight was so influential in the movie and did some advising for the movie, he knew about that arena which would appear large enough to be a college programs gym. Also since it was in Indiana, he wouldn't have to travel far for the scenes that he was in.

Ehh maybe. Hassan Adams, Salim Stoudamire, Jerryd Bayless, and Luke Walton weren't on either team.

Point being, Lute was majorly underachieving his last few years with stars like Bayless and Budinger.

Um, um, um, HOLY CRAP!
Published by AdamGold October 30th, 2008 in ACC Hoops.

That’s what’s going through the minds of Tar Heels fans right now. Tyler Hansbrough, UNC’s 3-time All-America forward and reigning National Player of the Year is sidelined indefinitely with a stress reaction in his lower right leg. There is no timetable for his return to practice.

UNC is scheduled to play Vanderbilt in a secret scrimmage game Sunday at the Smith Center, followed by one exhibition you can actually go and watch next Saturday against UNC-Pembroke. The season officially gets underway a week later when the Heels host Penn. No word on Hansbrough’s status will come until after Roy Williams meets with the doctors Friday.

Is it serious? Probably not. Especially if there is no rush to get him back on the court."

^^^^interesting, but not all that big a deal as long as he can go by the time the real games start. funny how his dad was talking about taking out an insurance policy on him when he decided to come back just in case. not sure if he ever did it but ironic none the less.

haha we play out there. he lit us up last week. #25 on his team is better than him when he tries. he played professionally in france. damien grant is in our league too and he has a sick one-armed point guard on his team.

just fyi

we played after morrisville dentistry...sucked in the first half, but still won by 20+. there are three teams in that league that could compete with a lot of d1 and d2 schools. most have former d1 or pro league guys (overseas that is). we're ALL nc state guys that used to play together in carmichael and all fighting to get back in our playing shape. we're tied with morrisville dentistry right now (cj hooker's team).

Mar 3 at Maryland - W
Mar 8 (22) Clemson - W

23-4 (12-4)

After doing the tabulating I was surprised to find out that I only thought that there were 4 games that they would lose. They luck out in only having to play UNC once, which is at home too. They also only have to play Miami once. I think there are a few games for them that could go either way though. Both games with Clemson could go either way, and I probably should have had them split the series. The game at Maryland may be tough especially if the Terps are on the bubble like they seemingly always are on as of these past couple of years.

Nov 18 Kentucky - W
Nov 21 at UCSB - W
Nov 24 at Chaminade - W

Feb 21 at Maryland - W
Feb 28 Georgia Tech - W
Mar 4 at Virginia Tech - W
Mar 8 (9) Duke - W

27-1 (15-1)

The Tar Heels return all but Quentin Thomas from a Final Four team. They are absolutely loaded. The two time reigning ACC Champions have become the first team since the AP took over the coaches poll in 1991 to be unanimously voted No. 1 in the preseason. They have experience and depth, and Tyler Hansbrough is the first NPOY, who had remaining eligibility, to return to school since Ralph Sampson did it not once but twice after winning the honor as a sophmore in 1981, and again in 1982 and 1983. With the addition of a four man recruiting class that features the 2008 Mr. Basketball Indiana, Tyler Zeller, Ed Davis, Larry Drew, and unheralded local Durham product Justin Watts, the Tar Heels now have an astounding 9 McDonald's All-Americans on their team. Anything short of a National Championship will be disappointing for the people in Chapel Hill.

And finally my prediction for State:

Nov 15 at New Orleans - W
Nov 22 High Point - W
Nov 25 Winthrop - W
Nov 30 N.C. Greensboro - W
Dec 6 at (23) Davidson - W (I'll be at this game)
Dec 13 Winston-Salem State - W
Dec 17 East Carolina - W
Dec 20 Lipscomb - W
Dec 22 (25) Marquette - L
Dec 29 Loyola (MD) - W
Dec 31 Towson - W
Jan 3 at Florida - L (I'd like to go to this game. Anyone want to join me in seeing the O-Dome?)
Jan 10 at (22) Clemson - W
Jan 13 Florida St. - W
Jan 17 Georgia Tech - W
Jan 20 at (9) Duke - L
Jan 24 at Boston Coll. - W
Jan 27 Miami (FL) - W
Jan 31 (1) North Carolina - L
Feb 3 N.C. Central - W (it seems odd we'd have a non-conference game this late in the season)
Feb 8 at Virginia Tech - W
Feb 11 Wake Forest - W
Feb 14 at Georgia Tech - L
Feb 18 at (1) North Carolina - L
Feb 21 Virginia - W
Feb 26 at Wake Forest - L
Mar 1 Maryland - W
Mar 4 Boston Coll. - W
Mar 7 at Miami (FL) - L

21-8 (10-6)

Wow when figuring up all of these games I didn't think I'd have State having a winning record in conference, but there are a lot of teams that are down this year. The Pack returns a lot of experienced players. I think 8 total lossses is the best case scenario, and more than 12 would be disappointing. The Pack have a tough road game at Clemson to open conference play, but I think they can surprise the Tigers. A 7-9 or 8-8 record should be doable for this veteran group provided they play with intensity and Gonzalez continues to play like he did in a few games near the end of the season. Running a two point guard set should help us out in the ball handling department and I think we won't see the press as much this year.

My projection for the starting lineup:
1 - Gonzalez
2 - Degand
3 - Fells
4 - Costner
5 - McCauley

Totaling it all up here's how the conference standings will look like based on my predictions.

1. UNC 27-1 (15-1)
2. Duke 24-4 (14-2)
3. WF 23-4 (12-4)
4. State 21-8 (10-6)
5. Miami 19-8 (10-6) (during a tie they go first head to head right, which I have State and Miami splitting the series, then they go to overall record right?)
6. VT 19-8 (9-7)
7. CU 18-9 (8-8)
8. UMD 17-11 (6-10)
9. BC 15-13 (3-13)
10. GT 15-14 (3-13)
11. FSU 13-17 (2-14)
12. UVA 11-16 (1-15)

The Big Four get back to being totally dominant and are Top 4 in the league. The bottom of the league I fear will be absolutely terrible.

Like I said that's probably a best case scenario. We have enough veteran players to compete with everyone save Duke and UNC, provided the Javi from the 2nd Duke and UNC games shows up, and Farnold fully recovers.

GAINESVILLE, Fla. (AP) -- Florida guard Jai Lucas, the son of former NBA player and coach John Lucas, has decided to transfer.

The point guard and his mother met with Gators coach Billy Donovan on Wednesday.

Lucas, a sophomore from Bellaire, Texas, averaged 8.5 points last season and led the Gators in 3-point shooting at 43.5 percent. He started all 36 games last season, as well as the team's first exhibition game Monday night.

But with freshmen Erving Walker and Ray Shipman competing with Lucas for playing time, and highly touted recruit Kenny Boynton having committed to attend Florida next season, it looked like Lucas' minutes might fall.

^eh, coaching basketball at ND is like coaching football at Carolina. Personally I think the obvious choice to replace Lowe, should he be fired, would be Sean Miller...of course he has a big buyout at Xavier and speculating about a new basketball coach is entirely premature at this point, but it's interesting that there are already names being thrown around.

I saw that shit Tudor put out there about Brey coming here. He also said it for UVA and another school. Do you realize the outrage if we were to hire a former Dookie, and one that hasn't even been all that successful anyways? It would be stupid to fire Lowe after this year, especially with the class he's bringing in. You have to give Lowe at least 5 years. By then he'll have his guys in place.

UCLA on ESPNU tonight, very interesting recruiting class and a couple solid returners. I'd say early they play UNC in the Final Four or NC and get blown out, they have no big man.
