Any examination of media by Fox is made only for the sake of undermining the "liberal media". Every week they make fools out of the liberal panelists. The liberals get the cold shoulder/interrupted/hard questions while the moderator babies the conservative panelists. The discussion ends with the moderator concluding that the conservatives are right and the liberals are wrong.

The same stuff happens on CNN with the positions reversed.

I'm willing to consider that there may be another side of this, but it seems like FOX news pundits are saying that it's okay to kill this soldier because in their eyes, he might have left his post. Is there any evidence one way or the other? If there were, is it okay to say that the terrorists should start executing soldiers?

At what point does Fox News have responsibility when it comes to inciting violence?

he was saying if he didn't desert then I support him, but if it turns out he DID desert then the taliban killing him will save a lot of time, money, and the hassle of whatever legal issues, trials and punishment/incarceration a soldier would face for desertion.

the investigation as to the circumstances of his capture are going to happen regardless.

So, according to your interpretation of his quote, the Taliban would have to wait until we conduct our own investigation before they decide to kill him or not, and the results of our investigation would/should determine if we, as Americans, should be happy or pissed that the Taliban killed him.
Or, if the Taliban goes ahead and kills him, we should reserve judgement on the act until the results of the investigation are in.

How about this - we, as Americans, stand behind a fellow American, deserter or not, who is in the hands of the enemy who will not think twice about torturing and maybe killing him. If/When he is recovered, he can go through the procedures that any other suspected deserter would. If found guilty, that punishment can even include the death penalty, although he would only be the 2nd American to be executed for desertion in 150 years. Whatever the eventual punishment would be, he deserves and should be afforded the rights given to him as an American and a soldier.
