You can take it off and have the boys at Advanced Auto put it on their machine and test it for you.

Seriously, freshman year, my bike battery took a shit and I had to bump it for two months, multiple times a day, in the winter, all because I was too cheap to buy a new one. On the other hand, it was like <350lbs wet.

lol, wtf fools.

I have no problem bump starting the car at all. But I only drive this car in inclement weather, and I doubt I can push the car fast enough to bump start it on a slick surface.

^^^^^5 So? It snow like 5% of the time in a NC winter, so who's to say he ever had to do it on anything but dry pavement.

Bought a new starter today and had smores over to check it out with me. Naturally the car started up right away. Seems it doesnt like to start in extreme cold. Also, looks like 1000 freaking hoses have to be removed to get the old starter out. Dammit all.

so the day after I had the Z06 detailed, my mom backed her GMC Acadia into it in her driveway.

No real body damage, just scraped along the side lightly for a couple of feet. I got some rubbing compound and got it all out except for 3 really tiny chips. Body shop I took it to today wants $416 to repair it...even though they're just about the only blemishes in the paint, I can't stomach that for a 9-year old Chevy with 101k miles. Maybe somewhere else will do it for a good bit cheaper.

zxappeal and I did some work over the weekend:

Almost finished dismantling the bed of the '66 pickup. Finally decided to quit fucking around with bodywork on the bed panels, and just order a bunch of new parts. The bed will probably be about 80-90% reproduction stuff, but oh well. It'll go a shitload faster, and I'm not convinced we'd ever get as nice of a result trying to polish the original turds.

Started stripping some more paint (and bondo, haha) off the cab.

On the 'vette, we replaced both belts and a couple of idler/tensioner pulleys. Dan installed the replacement bushings in my driver's seat track to stop the seat from rocking. It isn't perfect, but it's a HUGE improvement (i.e., it mostly sits still now, with the occasional slight wobble in the tracks...although C5 seats themselves are kinda flimsy and flexible and otherwise suck all-around, aside from general comfort.) Dan also put a bunch of strips of aluminum sheetmetal in the base of the seat, to deal with where the spring wires had cut deeply into the seat foam. Improvement there, too.

Also had the Z06 aligned about a week ago, and had 2 new tires (Nitto NT05, 295/35R18) mounted on the rear. Will hopefully mount the fronts this weekend, and replace the brake pads all around (ordered Carbotech AX6 today).

Ordered an SA2010-rated helmet today, too. Next up: fix my climate control display (extremely dim) and replace my shocks with 2004-spec Z06 shocks.

Control arm bushings/control arms (front), solid exhaust mounts (helpful when you drive like... me), and solved a wiring harness issue, I'm getting pretty good at that now, could tell which wires were making contact and exactly where!1

put a fuel filter on the sentra

welded up some cracks on the muffler on the jeep, installed a new exhaust hanger, it's nice to have it in one spot and not flopping around underneath, fixed a broken rear sway bar link also.

twas a productive weekend!

I was really looking for a 9-2x 2.5 those things are tough to find though.

I drove one when it was new but that's the last time i've been able to find one nearby.

Mak vIII do yall have oil catch cans on them?

No catch cans on either, and her 9-2 started life as a 2.0, she built a 2.5 to drop in.

only car I've owned that burned oil was a bone stock sl2 saturn

my valve cover is vented straight to ground on the turbo car and it's never low on oil. I should put a bottle on it to see what does come out

New wiper blades on the MX3. I CAN NOW SEE IN THE RAIN!!!!!11!!1

Also, the brakes on the IS250 feel MUCH better than stock. Smooth, linear feel. Still a while to go until they are fully bedded in.

Alright detectives any ideas with this one?

I worked on the Integra's brakes back in November. 2 weeks ago brake fluid decided to randomly leak out of the passenger front caliper (where the line is bolted to the caliper). However I could not get the brake to leak when I had the car up on jackstands even when I repeatedly stood on the brake pedal. So I cleaned the fluid off the wheel and gave the brake line bolt a slight turn and it's been fine. 3 days later fluid leaked from the driver's side front brake caliper. There was brake fluid on the wheel, but the caliper itself was bone dry...interesting. Brake fluid level was fine as well. I tightened the bolt a tiny little bit and left it alone. It didn't leak for a week or so. I drove it once last week and the brakes seemed fine. Monday night I looked at the wheel again since I'd been out of town for 4 days (car had just been sitting) and more brake fluid had leaked out.

WTF is going on here? I'm at a complete loss. These calipers are new (from Autozone) and their outer surface has already rusted to hell. Could that have anything to do with this?

I don't get it

replaced a front turn signal on the Z06

thought it was going to be a giant pain in the ass, but i figured out that you can pop off the air ducting from inside the front bumper, then reach your hand up through the hole in the bumper. Takes just a couple of minutes to do it that way.
