Philly has some awesome parts to it, and then some not so awesome parts to it. A lot of the people kind of suck. I guess I'm just used to Southern Hospitality. Also it's so hard to find beer in the city. If you want to get beer you have to go to a beer distributor (where all you can get are 30 packs), Chinese restaurant that sells a 6-pack of bud light for $9, or some obscure shop like the Mulberry Market on Arch or the Foodery on 10th which has more beer than food, lol. You can't just walk into a convenience store like Wawa or a supermarket and have the option to get a 6-pack, 12-pack, 18-pack, or 24-pack. Stupid Quakers.

Philly fans are pretty die-hard, and can be overbearing and vulgar. Eagles fans are by far the worst. Even though I live in Philly now, I'll never pull for the Eagles. A couple of friends of mine were tailgating for an Eagles/Giants game at Giants Stadium last season. Well one of their friends was having what he thought was good natured ribbing with an Eagles fan. The Eagles fan leaves and comes back 5 minutes later and breaks a bottle on the side of his head causing him to lose a tooth. Who in the world does that? Dumbass Eagles fans that's who.

I don't mind pulling for the Phillies. Their fans aren't too bad actually, plus I liked John Kruk growing up. My roommate said that during the post-game celebration after they won the World Series, he got the heck out of there after he heard gunshots on Broad Street, haha. Flyers fans are kind of in-between and I'm rooting for them b/c I'd love to see what the city will be like if the make it to the Stanley Cup Finals and win the cup. Then I'd be able to compare the post-game celebration of the Hurricanes winning it in 2006 to what a Flyers celebration would be like.

Has anyone seen that HBO Sports documentary on the Flyers in their heyday called "Broad Street Bullies"? I saw it last night and loved it. It let the former Flyer players defend themselves for their goonie play, but also presented the criticisms by everyone in the ice hockey world for them turning the sport into a circus reminiscent of the scenes seen in Slap Shot.

I am on team Philly(if MTL cant somehow pull off the upset)

Went to Philly in January and tailgated in full Canes gear with my COLD BEER flag flying. Some guys came over and gave us shit, but we took it well so they invited us to their tailgate with beer pong and a platter of sandwiches from this deli that is supposedly popular down there.

Got into the game and they brought us down to the first level with them and bought us around 40 bucks worth of beer and food. Had an absolute blast, nothing like what I expected. I guess there is some good and some bad.

That said, their team is easy to hate, from the goons like Carcillo to vagina-boys like Briere. But they are built to succeed in the playoffs and thats what I picked them to do preseason.

Even though they were a dirty team the 1973-75 Flyers were loaded with great players. Dave Schultz, Bobby Clarke, Bernie Parent, Bill Barber, Reggie Leach, Bob Kelly, Ed Van Impe, Rick MacLeish, Gary Dornhoefer, and Bill Clement (yea that analyst with the awesome mustache). That's like a who's who of hockey greats from that time period.

This is one of the most surreal things to me that I've seen in the NHL. If you had told me at the beginning of the season that Chicago and Philly would play in the Finals, I would have said okay you can't get much more predictable than that; they were probably the top teams in each conference on paper to start the season. But for them to be the 7 seed, getting into the playoffs on the last day of the season in a SHOOTOUT, with Brian Boucher and now Michael fucking Leighton as their goaltenders, and their coach fired replaced by Laviolette... So bizarre.
