Would be great and a very sweet deal if we could land Singleterry as LB Coach.

Agreed. He's got to love the idea of working with a star like Beason and other solid players ... Anderson, Connor, maybe even Davis.

Bigger question, assuming we don't go QB #1. Do we bring in a veteran QB? If so, who?? Some names I've seen thrown around.

Orton -- IIRC, Broncos say they'll give him up for a 3rd or 4th. He's only 28 as looked pretty darn good the past few years.

Kitna -- Always been a fan of his. Nothing spectacular, but he knows how to move around the pocket and get the job done, even if it's not pretty.

Hasselback -- Not sure Seattle lets him go, but this guy always surprises me. Every time you count him out, he comes out and impresses.

Kolb -- Never really been impressed, but he's a hell of a lot better than what we've got. No way in hell you trade a first-rounder for him ... maybe a 3rd. Maybe.

Grossman -- Not a bad option when you think about it, though he seems like the kind of wildcard player Rivera would steer clear of. I always forget this guy started a superbowl.

Other options: Bring Moore back. Bring Billy Volek over from San Diego. Trade for Carson Palmer. McNabb? Vince Young?

Kitna would be 39 in September. He might retire anyway. Not sure he would want to come.

Orton/Kolb would be the best options from that list.

Clausen will be fine - this past season was just him being thrown to the wolves.

Action cats should not get a QB in the draft. They should focus on the big uglies.

I wouldn't mind seeing McNabb or Palmer. I also wouldn't mind resurrecting Jeff Garcia or Culpepper (both are definitely worth the league minimum) while Clausen learns the ropes.

Do you mean the Panthers shouldn't get a QB or shouldn't get a QB in the first round? Because they absolutely need to draft another QB at some point and sign a veteran.

Culpepper isn't worth the lint in my pocket and Garcia is finished. I guess I wouldn't mind either of those other two but I'd rather have Hasselbeck before both, so that's not saying much.

He has the potential to be a sneaky good pick up. He learned under the one of the best in the late Jim Johnson and now he is paired with another good defensive mind.

[Edited on January 17, 2011 at 4:41 PM. Reason : His MO is pressure from the linebacker position. That could be good with our group.]

bad move on the offensive coordinator IMO, his offense was horrible when he was coaching with the Browns.

^ the year he was at the browns, they had a pretty good O.. anything/anyone is better than davidson. I just hope Rivera isn't like Fox and actually lets the O coordinator get innovative (see dan henning at Carolina vs. at Miami)

our o and d coordinators just got a heck of a lot better in my opinion

That chudzinski guy spent some time under norvell (which is good in simply terms of offensive plays), and mcdermott was tutored by johnson.

Loving the staff so far.. Meeks took a demotion to secondary coach also (not at all angry that we kept him in some capacity, and his experience will help with mcdermott since he is so young)

Fuck Jimmy Clausen I do not want to see him throw another pass to the bench warmer WR's everytime he gets a little spooked that the pass rushers are closing in.

Be a decent coordinator for more than a year?

Anderson's Pro Bowl season wasn't all that impressive, there was just a large buzz because of that 51-45 game at the beginning of the season. If you actually look at his stats, they're not very good.

Jimmy Clausen is worse than AIDS, Cancer, and the holocaust put together. I would rather see Charlotte burn to the ground than see him take another snap.

I wouldn't mind him taking some snaps in garbage time with a 42-3 lead after our starting QB has been benched to avoid injury risk

Palmer is washed up. Vince Young would be better, and cheaper, too. Young could turn this team into a contender if he can keep his head on straight
