I don't know if it's the reason we won, but it helped. i mean, you can throw all types of hypotheticals out there... if lorenzo and the other 2/3 never got sick, if lorenzo didn't turn his ankle, if wood didn't turn his ankle, if CJL had been playing all season, if DeT had been playing all year, etc. 11/21/2011 11:23:00 PM |

In a nutshell, probably. But remember Brown's fourth foul preceded that. He was coming out of the game -- probably for a while -- and he might have fouled out quickly upon return.

It is most definitely the reason we won and you are in denial if you think otherwise. They were dogging us by 20 points. We didn't really change anything to come back. We ran the offense just as well, and we had the same questionable defense. Texas just had no one to run the show. They were throwing passes right to us.
It's good that we won, but there should be no illusions about why we won. 11/21/2011 11:30:36 PM |

our shooting dramatically improved...even with Brown fouled out, we needed buckets badly, and our guys stepped up.
i'm impressed that the players even got it into their heads that they could win. it's so contrary to my expectations of Lowe's teams...lack of hustle, discipline, and an over-abundance of head hanging. 11/21/2011 11:48:03 PM |

In skookian's defense we were playing HORRIBLE defense the first ~30 minutes of the game.
Beyond that, anytime we got a stop we'd get called for a foul.
The moment J'olando Laquesha Ameeka fouled out we started hounding their passing lanes and created a ton of turnovers and forced some bad shots.
Fucking Gottfried has got this team living up to its potential. We were going to be a better team this year regardless, but I never thought our offense would be this efficient. If our defense ever reaches its potential (see: last 8 minutes) then this team isn't just top 60-70 in the country it's in the top 30-40 neighborhood.
Incredible amount of improvement out of each player on this team. 11/22/2011 1:50:11 AM |

^I guess he is playing the role of Tayshaun (I don't feel like looking up how to spell it) Prince? Can't really shoot well, pass real well, or dribble real well but has the ability wreak havoc on the perimeter. Obviously it's early but I am surprised to see him getting so much PT. 11/22/2011 7:20:31 AM |

Honestly, as long as the team is winning him getting minutes can only be positive in the long run, right?

Some of you people would find fault with your own mother. Harris is going to be a valuable contributor this year and, unlike our guards thus far, he is a real threat to hit the open 3. He's had some bone-headed freshman plays (namely that lowered shoulder charge on the 3-on-2 break last night) but he's only 5 games into his collegiate career. 11/22/2011 7:57:19 AM |

^^^^i don't know what you expect, he's a freshman. he's gonna have his ups and downs.
I don't expect him to be a star and he obviously has some things he needs to work on, but I like what he can give us. You can tell he's thinking a little too much right now, and that's gonna affect how he plays, but he can still give us some good minutes and cause some match-up problems when he's out there. His shot will look better once he gets more comfortable in understanding the offense. All we really need him to do right now is to get good pressure on defense and be smart with the ball.

^^^ J'Covan Brown picked up his 4th foul with about 8:30 minutes to go and then began chirping at the ref and got a technical. Since technical fouls now count as personal fouls, it was his 5th and so he was done. Dude was averaging like 28 pts/game coming in so Texas losing him ruined their offensive flow.

Now I am convinced that UT has turrible fans. I finally managed to find a bar that showed the game, and it was packed full of students gearing up for MNF. GUESS WHO WAS WATCHING THE GAME? Me. Nobody else gave a damn at all. Then, to top it all off it wasn't even in the student newspaper this morning.
I can't believe that these guys have a good ball program here and it is no recognized.

Texas is a football state, just like Alabama, Louisiana and every other state in the southeast. My dad tells me all the time how high school football games are on primetime tv down in Mobile, AL like they are bigtime college/NFL games 11/22/2011 11:22:16 AM |

I was just about to post the same thing. I have been going to texas forums trying to find comments on the game. Most dont even mention the game. Too focused on football. In fact, I havent found a thread on the loss. They have to be the most underappreciated basketball team in the entire NCAA. I dont know why a heavily ranked recruit would want to play for a team that has such piss poor support. And think how big their school is. 38,000 undergrads, and I can't find a decent forum. There are at least 3 good ones for NC State with a little more than half their size.

Nah, I was there. We were down by way more at the half and it was as if every single shot Wake took in last few mins of the game was botched on purpose. State won this game, Wake lost the other.

I'm sorry, but I watched the game in replay today. State was already on a run, and had brought the game back from 18 back to 13 with 2 freethrows to possibly cut it to 11. Texas was starting to fall apart with the fouls. Even if Brown doesnt pick up the technical, he is on the bench with 4 with 8+ minutes remaining. State would have probably taken the lead, or at least tied before he was put back in.
Did it help us? Sure! Would the outcome have been different without him? Possibly, but it sure as hell isnt a foregone conclusion like you pretend it is.
