I don't care if there is a full solar eclipse by day and a lunar eclipse by night with a comet circling around it, our confidence won't mean shit when we roll into Durham. But everyone will naturally get their hopes up after a few wins over shitty opponents and be right back here bashing the team after a loss in Cameron.

The sky isn't falling on us being a good team...but it is falling on our NCAA chances.

This isn't the old ACC where hovering over .500 is a guaranteed NCAA bid. We're losing valuable chances at getting good wins for our tourney resume (UVa, Stanford, Indiana) and getting to 10/11 wins in conference (GaTech and UVA).

It's leaving our margin for error razor thin.

We have the talent to be an NCAA team, unfortunately we just have this nasty habit of not playing any defense.

We let a big win slip away not beating UVA with their center out. I don't think I've ever seen a team double the other team on the glass and still lose. And that's one of UVA's biggest strengths!

If we'd given any effort on the defensive end, we'd have won that game easily. However, we just give them wide open 3's all game again for wahtever reason. I kept hearing the "UVA is on fire tonight" and "Why does everyone get so hot against us?" crap all night. I'm really sick of that, of course they are on fire they are wide open every shot.

I will agree with Face on that last post mostly. We are good enough to be a NCAA team, but atm we're not following through.

We played phenomenal defense in the second half for the most part if you ask me. They had something like 4 field goals right? The problem is that our team seemed to be punished by the officials for playing such aggressive defense. Not to mention the two over the back calls on much smaller player on Leslie which ripped 4 points away from us. They cashed in on their foul shots in the second half.

They might have been without their 7 footer, but they are still plenty big in the front court. I think he was their fifth leading scorer on the team as well.

looking at the remainder of our schedule, assuming we can continue to beat the bottom half of the acc, 10-6 is actually a pretty modest forecast. i dont think its assuming too much that we can beat wake, bc, gt, vt, clemson, and miami. but does 10-6 and 21-10 get us in with how bad the acc is this year? we would be 0-7 against top 25 teams. and i dont think its very likely that we could steal one against unc, at duke, or against fsu. but hopefully im wrong. or hopefully we could make something happen in georgia.

One CJL foul was obvious when he cleared out Scott. That one got the fans hot, but it was obvious. The one before that was total bullshit as Leslie did not even make contact with anyone. I think Howell or CJW may have been there as well and maybe the ref saw them make contact. Either way, both were huge calls that each represented at least 4 pt swings (since UVA got foul shots after each).

Time to kill this thread and move one to the next one...

This is the first gut wrenching, sour tasting loss of the season. I'm happy with that as a State fan because this shit use to happen all of the time.

And we finally have some exciting bball to watch and players are getting better.
