Last season we were fairly fortunate with injuries (except Skinner's concussion), but the season before we had the 6th most man games lost in the league, the season before that I cannot find and the season before that 7th most. So I would hardly say we've been fortunate for the last few years.

look this is NOT trolling

1) It's a shortened, condensed season with lots of back to backs and quick turnarounds. If ever there were a season to use your backup goalie more often than normal, this is it.

2) It's a short season therefore each game is more important towards your playoff chances. Less time to recover from a slow start and make a playoff push. This is a sprint not a marathon, every game should be treated as though the playoffs are on the line. Particularly, with the 1 point per OTL scoring system.

3) Our backup goalie is better than our starter.

#1 is from the perspective of even if you have a clear-cut #1 goalie, this is the season to use the backup a little more for health and fatigue reasons.

#2 is from the perspective of don't use the "it takes time to iron out the kinks" mentality. Play the season out like every game is a postseason game. If this was Game 5 of the Eastern Conference Finals you'd start the hot goalie. Do that tomorrow too.

We might be playing more games, but that's probably our 3rd game in a week..we've had a lot of time between games.

That said, I think Ellis should get the start on Saturday. Cam wasn't very good in this game. I don't think Ellis is clearly better, but the change of pace might wake Cam up like it did earlier this season.

People see a truly terrible goal and freak the fuck out, forgetting that all the great goaltenders in history have let in screamingly bad goals.

Hell, Cam let in a fucking terrible goal in Game 7 against Buffalo in '06, and it worked out just fine.

Same for Brodeur in Game 3 of the '03 Finals.
