yep, ever since UT switched over to Under Armour their jerseys have been much better. State needs to switch to UA because Adidas doesn't allow flashy jerseys

I, too, liked their jerseys this past Saturday. UT orange is a little too bright for me. I feel like that grey muted it out a bit.

got a big commitment from a 4-star juco O-Lineman yesterday:

Quote :
"Faced with the possibility of losing five offensive line starters at the end of the year, the line was perhaps the biggest position of need for Tennessee in the 2014 recruiting class. And, given that offensive line generally has a lower incidence of freshman contributors than the skill positions and that current Vols underclassmen tended more towards the interior, getting JUCO help at tackle was perhaps the biggest need on the line.

Well Tuesday night, Tennessee got their JUCO help in the form of mammoth offensive tackle Dontavius Blair from Garden City Community College. Blair stands 6'8" and weighs in at a touch over 300 pounds, drawing a four-star rating from every major scouting service. 247 listed him the #5 JUCO tackle in the country, and it showed in his offer list, with Auburn, Florida State, Georgia, Ohio State, Texas A&M, and Southern Cal all making offers.

But Blair chose Tennessee, where he will surely be expected to take over immediately and man one position on the offensive line. Blair makes Tennessee fourth offensive lineman committed for the 2014 and first JUCO, and his pledge will surely be welcome news for elite running back commitment Jalen Hurd and the promising returners at the skill positions who will be looking to take a major step forward in Butch Jones' second year on campus.

Welcome, Dontavius!"

also, this has been floating around today:

I bet its Kiffin coming back as a grad assistant.

Jesus, they've yet to score from open play and have suffered their worst ever start to a Premier League season.

Hmm, interesting. He got basically zero play time outside of kick returns and sounds amicable, but still weird.

Quote :
"Vincent Dallas No Longer a Vol

Throughout the week there have been rumors surrounding offensive lineman Alan Posey and wide receiver/kick returner Vincent Dallas. Both players are believed to no longer be with the Tennessee football program.

Dallas missed practice this week for what the team has called “personal reasons.”
While it has not been confirmed by the university, a source has given information that junior Vincent Dallas is no longer with Team 117.

Per this source, Dallas is done for the year and will graduate in June. After that, he will seek opportunities to play elsewhere. When asked why, the source said this departure is due to a lack of playing time. However, the source added that the coaching staff is being helpful in letting Dallas take summer school classes if he needs more time before he leaves.

Through 6 games this season, Dallas has played in every game, starting in 1 at wide receiver. He has recorded 2 catches for 14 yards with a long of 8 yards. The majority of Dallas’ contributions have come on kick-off returns. He has returned 13 kicks for 289 yards with a 22.2 yard average per return and a long of 36."

Any moral victory you get from taking a decimated Georgia team to the wire at home has to be severely diminished right now. UGA is a borderline top 20 team when healthy.

Na jbrick born in 1983. We were banged up too. Had two freshmen starting in the secondary including a walk on. Plus we suck and Georgia will probably still win the SEC East assuming 5-0 Missouri falls with Franklin being out.

I read various post in here and other sites, and it feels like people are experiencing the apocalypse and losing hope on this team. This team is fine, it has enough talent to win 6 games and can still surprise a lot of people. Injuries and squad depth are the problem right now, but the biggest one that caused us to lose 2 games, possibly 3, has to be qb play.

Justin is alright, but he is bringing the team down and has cost us all three games. Its not his fault we lost those games, but he sure as hell not won us any games this season, and with a better qb we could of won both games. The best offense we played has been Oregon, and if it wasn't for our defense we would have been stomped. Its safe to assume our defense is good and young at the back, and they allow at max 3 td/game. Our problem is that our offense can't score more than 3 at times, and is unreliable and inconsistent. The pass game is way below average considering the receivers we have, and our running game is lacking because our passing game is not a big threat, and our oline is our weakest link.

All our problems will be solved if we have a good mobile qb who can avoid sacks, and run the football. Everything will open up, the deficiencies at oline will be eclipsed by the mobility and decision making of the qb. If Peterman can play like many of us hope, this offense will pick up and quickly put yards and use more time, allowing our defense to rest and thus allowing even less td. We have good rb, good wr, great dline man, and young but good cb, we just need a qb to help us win games, instead of trying so hard not to lose games.

The only problem arises if Peterman isn't the qb that we saw the first 3 drives, or if he gets injured again. I know many of you feel like the whole team wins games, but we have seen time and time again that if the qb goes down the team is only as good as its backup ie NCSU Vs Rutgers, Redskins Vs Seattle, New England w/out Brady. The team doesn't lose games, buts its the Qb and Rb that win them, and we don't have Adrian Peterson.

god dammit the schedule is a motherfucker this year, and the hardest part is still to come AFTER playing Oregon, Georgia, and Florida already.

http://www.saturdaydownsouth.com/2013/sec-toughest-second-half-schedules-2013/

Quote :
"2. Tennessee (3-3, 0-2)
Oct. 19: #11 South Carolina
Oct. 26: at #1 Alabama
Nov. 2: at #14 Missouri
Nov. 9: #24 Auburn
Nov. 16: Bye
Nov. 23: Vanderbilt
Nov. 30: at Kentucky

Schedule Buzz: Like Florida, Tennessee plays four ranked opponents, and all four of them come in consecutive games. Tennessee hosts South Carolina before making back-to-back road trips to Alabama and Missouri. The Vols then return home against Auburn. Already at three wins, do you see three more on the schedule?"

Vandy, Kentucky, then maybe Auburn or Missouri. Need one of them.

UT's schedule really is brutal. Sucks for them, but at least they are in the SEC. I'd rather go 5-7 or 4-8 playing UT's schedule than our 5-7 versus a couple of legit teams and a bunch of mediocre bullshit teams like Wake and Maryland.

I completely agree. and while it is only the sec east, getting big wins over vandy and kentucky should secure a SOLID 5th place finish in the division...nothing to frown at in the sec
