I don't understand how anyone could think Musk actually runs his companies. He is an investor, not an inventor or CIO/COO. He is probably paid handsomely to stay the hell away from any impactful decisions, by the people paid to run his companies for him. 2/19/2025 11:50:42 AM

He's setting the vision, selling the vision and definitely involved in cutting waste. There is independent verification he was involved in the Raptor engine development and the tower catch chopsticks (also in the biography). 2/19/2025 11:57:40 AM

https://www.science.org/content/article/potential-fabrication-research-images-threatens-key-theory-alzheimers-disease
Quote : | "In August 2021, Matthew Schrag, a neuroscientist and physician at Vanderbilt University, got a call that would plunge him into a maelstrom of possible scientific misconduct. A colleague wanted to connect him with an attorney investigating an experimental drug for Alzheimer’s disease called Simufilam. The drug’s developer, Cassava Sciences, claimed it improved cognition, partly by repairing a protein that can block sticky brain deposits of the protein amyloid beta (Aß), a hallmark of Alzheimer’s. The attorney’s clients—two prominent neuroscientists who are also short sellers who profit if the company’s stock falls—believed some research related to Simufilam may have been “fraudulent,” according to a petition later filed on their behalf with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
Schrag, 37, a softspoken, nonchalantly rumpled junior professor, had already gained some notoriety by publicly criticizing the controversial FDA approval of the anti-Aß drug Aduhelm. His own research also contradicted some of Cassava’s claims. He feared volunteers in ongoing Simufilam trials faced risks of side effects with no chance of benefit.
So he applied his technical and medical knowledge to interrogate published images about the drug and its underlying science—for which the attorney paid him $18,000. He identified apparently altered or duplicated images in dozens of journal articles. The attorney reported many of the discoveries in the FDA petition, and Schrag sent all of them to the National Institutes of Health (NIH), which had invested tens of millions of dollars in the work. (Cassava denies any misconduct [see sidebar, below].)" |

TIL: asking people what they did that week is fucking stupid. Accountability is paramount to any endeavor. Functional organizations can tell you where the resources are allocated at a week resolution and when things change they are transparently communicated. Functional things don't lose track of trillions of dollars and then shrug and say, "oops" when an audit is failed.
Saying, "gov is not a company" may be what you wish to be the case, but from what's reported it seems to be what's happening. 2/22/2025 8:42:53 PM

Twitter by every metric you measure companies by, is a shadow of its former self
And the government has hundreds of auditing offices and accountability laws— these are one of the favorite things legislators like to write. Musk taking a bunch of inexperienced tech bros who don’t know how databases work or how to setup email, is not a credible audit attempt
But that is all obvious… no reasonable person believes the efficiency nonsense
They are just trying to destroy the federal government, and trigger perhaps an economic downturn. To what end is the real question. I think the musk-Vance-yarvin connection can’t be ignored— theyre laying the groundwork for states to secede as Yarvin yearns for 2/22/2025 10:11:13 PM

^^^ Exactly. The Coz is right on the money here
Trump always did this on an individual level to those around him, and the more public figures like other Republicans... but he got Elon for the purpose of doing it to every employee of the Federal Government.
And the thing is, I don't necessarily disagree with CaelNCSU's take on it here... but it just begs the question, why are they doing it in such a publicized and centralized manner? You want to be effective and also maintain morale -- have it done department by department by the people you're in touch with, have things actually take place.
