so...should i update and re-root? i would assume not, but i'm new to the android/phone scene

are the updates generally automatic? is there a way to suppress automatic updates? if it does update somehow, 1.) will it even work since it's been rooted and if so, 2.) will i just need to re-root it afterward?

Would anyone be interested in an unused (other than to root) CLN Thunderbolt? If not, should I try to ebay it as rooted with cyanogen?

I have an SD card but no battery (unless the Evo/Hero/TP2 batteries fit). It's a replacement that was sent to my buddy and because of a fuckup he was never asked to send it back.

Probably going to have to replace my phone as the transceiver board is going out. Its a samsung intercept.

Whats a slightly not-new phone, thats decently moddable? I never got up to modding mine before, but I would like to with this new one. I also would prefer something that is probably cheap. Ill guess im only going to get about 150 in cred for a phone to replace the one Ive got (maintenance contract).

Just got my DX replacement via Asurion and I'm not a fan of the one they sent. Factory sealed but there is a spot on the screen that is brighter than the rest. I guess I need to call them to talk to them about it this week. Hopefully they will send me another one free of charge. Or better yet a DX2

anybody used the MP3 Music Download app? its probably on the verge of being illegal as you can basically search for any artist and download MP3s of their songs to your phone

My cousin's husband was showing me that last week on his Phone. He swore up and down that it was legal, and I really didn't know enough about it for sure to tell him otherwise, but there's no way it's legit right? What is the source for the mp3s? I know there was a similar app for the iPhone that just ripped the audio track from youtube videos but it ended up not being able to tell the difference between originals and covers.

i think their angle is that they're similar to a torrent site as far as them not actually hosting any of the files...i'm enjoying while it lasts

I have the Phantom Skinz and put it on bmel's phone as well, back in like December. The screen will get very dinged up and scarred after awhile; bmel replaced hers a few weeks ago and the scratches on mine (creases in the plastic) won't self heal anymore.

Otherwise, I was very pleased.

It's 4g LTE so you can blow through your entire 2gb of data watching a couple of episodes on netflix, plus they charge you extra for it.

I thought this was covered? Verizon is letting customers already w/ unlimited data plans to keep their unlimited plans even if just upgrading devices. New customers and lines will move to the tiered system.

That's my understanding. Assuming you have a smartphone with unlimited data, you should be good based on everything I've read. Who knows with Verizon though.

Anyone tried a Droid X2? We bought 6 original DXs last year and they're all pieces of shit (6 replacements so far, 1 more next week & I have to get my hands on 2 more to see if it's phone or user) so I got them to replace one with a DX2 in the hopes that it may be better. Did they make ANY changes to the device other than dropping the camera button & adding some internal memory?

^Yeah I know. Seems like it's either complete trash like the ones we got or great. I hope we just got some out of a bad batch but some of the issues have been absolutely ridiculous. I ended up switching mine out for an iPhone because they didn't have any other options at the time except the Thunderbolt (brand new at the time and about 1/2 the battery life that I need) and after my 3rd one, I was tired of trying. The one I'm replacing next week is an original that's been freaking out the last month or so. I have one that freezes anytime the guy uses GPS (part of the reason that we bought them) but he doesn't want me to replace it for some reason.

Hopefully one of the changes will make it more reliable for us so I can get the rest of them switched out. I doubt processor was causing our issues but maybe its change necessitated changing whatever was.

yeah, it used to be $50/$100 based on how much your base plan costed but was dropped to $30/$50 a couple years ago. You still get the $199 or whatever contract price though after 20 months into a 2 yr contract but just not the extra. They also got rid of the annual upgrade for the primary lines or single lines on plans over $49.99. Can't even get 1 yr contracts anymore either. Hope everyone is happy that they got the fruit on Verizon

^^ Nope, no similar apps. Most are fairly stock. One of mine was rooted before I had issues but the other 2 weren't (messed up before I had a chance to do much of anything). One is running a different launcher (LPP), the others aren't. The phone that freezes under GPS is 100% stock and I found out that he hadn't updated to 2.3 yet so hopefully that helped him. It's just a variety of issues between them. Some aren't horrible, some make the phone useless. I just got a text from the one that's on vacation that the phone has overheated on her twice today (that's the one I'm switching out next week).

^We got $100-150 off when we ordered the DXs last year (November?) so they must have been running different ones depending on account type. Now only the single account shows as being eligible for one but it's a year away so I'm not sure how much it's for.

Contacted Asurion about my replacement DX having a defective screen and they are sending me a Droid X2 to replace it

Doesn't look like the X2 is really much different than the DX but I feel better about having spent the replacement fee to get an X2 versus a DX with a defective screen which was annoying.
