......aaaaand i just googled the replica and compared it to the official. the replica is the classic 32 panel soccer ball stitching, while the official jabulani is completely different

well, it's pointless to argue since neither of us actually know exactly how both will travel.

i wouldn't expect the material to make the most difference, but rather the design/stitching.

do you know which replica JT has? i'm seeing a ton of different replicas in quite a large price range...

i have no clue, honestly. i just personally think a ball made of inferior products, assembled differently (i think they are, but i'm not sure) and possibly a different stitching would react differently than the official one used. the results may be similar, but i would think it would be a pretty watered down representation. i do, however, think that the material would make a difference. i'm no scientist, but i would imagine that material properties would affect the flight of the ball one way or another. to use an extreme example: a ball made out of pigskin would likely not travel the same way as a ball made out of concrete. just my two cents on the matter

i'd likely agree, but since i'm not sure how they are constructed, what the materials are, or how they are stitched, i personally would assume "replica" means made like the original. (at least for the decent replicas.)

i wouldn't expect a 19.99 ball to play like a real jabulani at all, but i thought JT's ball felt much better than a $20 replica. (definite no homo on that last sentence)

I just can't imagine what sort of spin a player could put on the ball that would make it go like that. It's not like it's a Roberto Carlos-esque arc... that shot in the gif is just unnatural. It's like a gust of wind hits it as soon as it goes over the wall. You can tell how the keeper missed it. He was following it's natural trajectory when the fucker just took off in a completely different direction.

it wouldn't surprise me if that shot was somewhat un-intentional. that thing looks like it has a mind of its own after it clears the wall. the spin looks like he hit it near the outside intending it to curve left, but instead it takes off in the other direction. completely unreal.

i dont have many problems keeping it low while shooting in play...i do however have a problem getting it to dip when im playing a curled shot as if i were playing it over a wall. it just doesnt want to come down as quickly

i was over at a field by the ymca in new bern today shooting and i smashed one off the crossbar that i didnt even think was gonna hit at first. thought it was going wide but kind of swerved back cause it was knuckling. the ball is insane
