Why are YOU up in arms that the iPhone isn't CDMA? If you hate everything that is apple and don't plan on buying one regardless...are you that concerned about their business decisions?

Also you have a hard time with the whole global concept. You do realize a world exists outside of your own borders, right?

Personally I don't care either way other than the fact that everyone on Verizon can eat their words when they realize their network just took a dump like AT&T because of the high data demand of the iPhone.

Focus more on developing new features and less on 'backwards porting' if you will.

Anyone else use the MapQuest 4 App? Its free and has voice guidance directions. Its actually really nice and can't beat FREE. Haven't tested it thoroughly though.

I went from 3G --> 3GS last summer and felt it was a good upgrade but not a completely new deal

Anyone had any luck downgrading from 3.1.3 to 3.1.2? I fell in the Thames last week with my iPhone in my pocket so I got another one (had an upgrade on my plan) but it came with 3.1.3.

Also I took apart the old one and let it dry out. I'm hoping i can get it working again and maybe sell it.

Haha. My brother was competing in a rowing thing on the Thames and I was walking along the side and hit a mossy patch and my feet went out from under me. Fell in with my phone and bag. Thankfully my bag is mostly waterproof so it saved my laptop and other electronics. iPhone wasn't as fortunate.

Btw posting from an iPad at best buy. This thing is pretty cool. Can already type pretty fast. I want one now.

Ok so i made a stupid mistake. I assumed they wouldn't replace an iPhone for you that you damaged (accident not covered under warranty) for the subsidized price. But apparently they will. So if you drop your iPhone in a lake and want a new one they'll give you a new one for the $199 or whatever price instead of the whole price.

I went ahead and used my upgrade to get a new one. I might take it back, get refund, and keep the upgrade but that sounds like too much trouble.

Anyway I guess i'm going to try to take my old one back in and get a new 3gs replacement for $199. They sell without a contract for $599. So i guess i could get more then $199 for an unopened one on ebay or something.

Yeah i went ahead and took it back. Was a pain in the ass because i had to go back to the AT&T store at the Epicentre in downtown Charlotte to refund the phone i got, then drive out to the Apple Store at Southpark to get a replacement. Store was packed with people wanting to see the iPad. Luckily i got in on standby and got a replacement within 20 minutes. Apple has to be losing money giving me a 32gig 3gs for $199.

logo and I just replaced my LCD screen on my 3g. I got the tools and screen for around $30 on amazon. It took longer than expected but it looks great.

It's all over youtube. It doesn't look too complex. You can use a suction cup to get the screen off (once you remove the two screws next to the bottom port) if you don't have that tool. Just note the three mainboard connections (1,2,3). The first one is a bitch to put back in (slides in, doesn't click like 2 and 3).
