i know we have had other guys that had to play because we didn't have anyone else but next years guys should be ready to play and really help, at least some, right away

i agree that we need to ride this out for this year and next (give him 5 years) and see what next years class does. if we have even a remotely mediocre year next year and don't make the tourney he should be gone

basketball doesn't take near as long to build a program as football. one recruiting class can do it. our class next year should be that class from sid. some would say you have to give them a couple years but not at what will be sid's fifth year in his tenure.

Javi didn't play that poorly tonight overall. His shot was off, but he played full speed every second he was on the court and did things I didn't think he was capable of when he was a freshman. He's a good shooter but had an off night.

I thought javi had the best game out there to be honest. he had some dumb turnovers, but they were always when he was trying to make a play and everyone else was standing around doing nothing. his multiple assists, deflections, steals, and hustle plays that fired up the rest of the team and the crowd far outweighed the 3 or 4 turnovers he had. tracy scored a lot of points, but dang, please learn to go up strong or pass it out of a triple team.

I'm actually pretty shocked Leitao didn't do better at UVa. He was really, really good at DePaul. He just never clicked at UVa...

Anyway, we are 182nd in offensive efficiency according to Pomeroy.

And ESPN's raw stats show no one shooting above 30% from 3 other than Dennis Horner, who is over 50%. Ain't gonna win many games like that against quality teams without superior athleticism down low and on the wings, which we don't have.

This is going to be a loooooonnnnnngggggg year unless we improve and in a hurry from the outside. Now that Javi isn't being left open every possession he is settling back in to his terrible outside shooting. His high percentage last year was solely because he was so bad as a freshman...

Sidney REALLY needed 'Zo Brown to get there this year. It's tough to work in two freshman as your best players (aside from Smith). That year of experience at this level would have been invaluable and taken some of the pressure off of Harrow. It sucks that Smith will be gone by the time we really get these guys in to their roles as sophomores. Biggest jump a player typically makes is freshman->sophomore.

It was going to the NCAA Tourney. I'm still a huge believer of it only takes making it there and getting hot a few nights to have a huge run.

It's year 4 and our only hope is already next year. It sucks but it is what it is. He ain't going anywhere no matter how many xxxxxee's complain about it on TWW.

packboozie...how many days did the team have to prepare for this style of play? 1
do you even know why we played that Richmond scrimmage? was to prepare for this game. that is genius on Lowe's part. know why...he was planning ahead for the big 10 challenge and we had a chance to win against a quality opponent much better than State.

we lost that scrimmage against Richmond but thanks to that game we were still in a shot to win despite going 2 for 15 or whatever from 3. Nobody's shot was falling except for Smith.

What i love about this team is the hustle and willing to play to the end. last night Wood hustled down the court at the end of the game to stop a easy lay up even though we had lost the game. Starters on last years team would have given up a DUNK and just watched. even though Wood went nil from 3 he still was out there playing extremely hard.

Javi had one of the best games of his life and i have no clue what packboozie was watching. Mays was a liability last night and i was frustrated with his play but you really cant knock Javi for playing balls out tough last night.

You know, I am going to disagree with you here. More than once I asked the people I was watching the game with if Wood was hurt because he was barely running. In fact there was one rebound that he didn't even MOVE for because he thought it was going out of bounds and NW grabbed it.

That's certainly true, but the problem was/is that Sendek's teams NEVER get hot in March. They also NEVER win conference championship games (i.e. epic collapse to a vastly inferior USC team in last season's Pac-10 tournament). Now for some programs, that's perfectly acceptable because they have no history of success in basketball , but it was never going to cut it here and he realized that.

As far as last night's game, we played like shit, but this isn't football and one loss isn't going to ruin the season. Hopefully Sid uses this as an opportunity to fix some of the glaring problems with this team. I still think we will have a better record at the end of the season than last year, simply because the effort, intensity and cohesiveness of this team is significantly better than last year.

1) We played New Orleans before them, not like we had to prepare for a powerhouse

2) If we were scouting and preparing so much for Northwestern, why are you making excuses for him?

3) If that opponent was so much better than us why were we favored by 5 points?

Not a single damn player, not one. Hell, J.J. Hickson is looking like a better player in the NBA than anyone on Roy's last 2 national championship teams.
