well our installation routine was a nightmare, I ordered service on the 8th and it took 3 technicians and 10 days to finally get my service hooked up. When they finally did, DTV's activation systems were down so that was more downtime and the 3rd tech couldn't fine tune our dish because of it. Had to take more time off work etc. Then I found out our locals weren't in HD and neither was sunday ticket. This was the only reason my roommates and I signed up...they were looking at me like wtf, it took a lot of convincing to get them to agree to switch...I took a risk assuming responsibility with the 24 month commitment etc etc etc.

I didn't really bitch, but I laid it on pretty thick. For the most part it was all true, I just exaggerated a bit. The only shitty thing was I did that cashcrate promo that some noob posted in chit chat for 125 instant bucks instead of spreading a referral credit over 5 months and the AAA discount over 24 months.

putting together a spreadsheet... what do you all think would be the best way to keep track of how a team does against the spread?


A. Base it off of the very first, initial spread that comes out?

or

B. Base it off of the final spread right before kickoff?



obviously B would be more influenced by what "the public" thinks... but is that necessarily bad as that will go into the initial thread for the weeks after... any thoughts?

are you doing it for your personal research? Or just to keep track of your bets?

Ive tried similar record keeping in the past and as far as using it for research.. It ended up screwing me up. I find that looking at too many numbers and too many trends muddy my thinking. I take each game as it's own and very rarely bet with the trends.


Oh and bodog has State +13. I took it.

I would keep the opening line, because it's harder to find later. You can find historical closing lines going back several years at covers.com

Ive often wondered when they say a team is x/y versus the spread.. What line are they going by? The opening spread, the closing spread? I mean a half point either way could affect a teams trend...

95 percent sure that almost all 'records against the spread' use the opening line

Its the only line that (almost) universal among all sites and bookies

Lines can move several points one way, then back the other way before a game starts

and you could have 5 different closing lines at 5 different websites, differing by 3-4 points

Opening lines are always the same or within 1 point of each other

Then keep a record and see who did the best for college and pro seperately and who was the best overall
