Cothron will be playing for Harrow's Celtics squad in Las Vegas:

I don't know why you 'tards keep bringing up his SAT score. Zo had fucking qualified based on GPA and SAT, but due to what is being presumed as absences, he was failed in a couple classes this last semester which caused him to not graduate.

This has nothing to do with his intelligence. Common sense? maybe. But stop bringing up his grades and SAT scores like he was too fucking stupid to meet the minimum requirements because that is not the case until someone comes out and says so....and all indications point to absences as the culprit here.

I wasn't talking about him. I was talking about Dominique Ferguson.

Bo Ingram-transfer to NCSU
I caught the end of a story last night on local TV about Bo Ingram, who played basketball at Kinston but did not qualify an is now in junior college in Texas. He said after this year he plans to transfer to NC State. Apparently he was MVP in one of the summer leagues. Sorry I didn't catch more info.

it seems that he would have to unless someone was to transfer or leave the program

well next year the scholly situation will look like

SR

1. Tracy Smith
2. Javi Gonzalez

JR

3. Johnny Thomas (red shirt)
4. CJ Williams
5. Julius Mays

SO

6. Scott Wood
7. Jordan Vandenberg
8. DeShawn Painter
9. Richard Howell
10. Josh Davis

FR

11. Lo Brown
12. Ryan Harrow

Thomas said that he is graduating early and this would be his last year so that leaves us with 2 open scholarships to give. Hopefully we get Parker and Cothron with those two and I don't see them giving a scholarship to Ingram (although maybe it would be a situation where he could earn one for the following year).

^^Yeah, Thomas seems like the kind of guy who might go after his masters degree -- just a really smart dude. The interview i read with him on WPH really got me pumped as shit. I think if he fixes his jumper (which he apparently did) and works on his ball-handling (which he currently is doing), he'll be an awesome player, assuming the leg holds up.

He's already got that crazy 45-inch vertical and an uncanny offensive rebounding ability. You add a jumper to that, and hot damn

^ yea i read that Thomas interview as well. Good stuff. That vertical is sick. With all the negativity coming from even ourselves over the program, i bet we end up doing decent this year, somewhere in the middle third of the conf. just an irrational feeling, but a feeling nonetheless

so the PP article on Bo Ingram states he has a conditional offer from us. he has to keep his GPA over 3.5, which seems like a weird condition for a basketball scholarship but maybe they want to make sure he qualifies and not get burned again.

here's an nbadraft.net write-up of one of the Atlanta Celtics games in LV. it's pretty complimentary... up until the last sentence. the author seems to think one of johnny cochran's relatives plays with ryan.

J-Smoove’s Altanta Celtics vs. Pump N Run Elite

The Pump N Run Elite team had one player who looked solid in 6’9” James Johnson impressed with excellent post position and some veteran back-to-the-basket moves, and had a monster jam after cutting down the lane and taking off from a step and a half inside the free throw line. He is a little bit clumsy, but with a 7-foot wingspan, and toughness, he makes things challenging for opponents.

On the other side of the ball, (Atlanta hawk) Josh Smith was on the bench after his USA mini-camp practice, to cheer on his boys from ATL. Among them were Jordan McRae, a long skinny 6’6” swingman who thinks too highly of himself, and the more impressive Ryan Harrow, plus a long athlete in Luke Cochran.

Cochran is a big kid with a toned physique, and huge wingspan who is considered a top 50 player in his class. In this game, however, he showed terrible hands – dropping the ball four times in the first ten minutes – and a disinterest in moving to get open in the paint. He is an athletic kid, but for an NBA prospect, he needs to show more skill with the ball in his hands at his age. Too many times he simply tried to bully his way to the hoop and his moor appears to be suspect. Ryan Harrow, however was a gem of a player, and the leading scorer in the game.

The NC State commit has a very impressive handle on the ball, using the behind the back dribble very quickly similar to former NBA PG Kenny Anderson. His amazing quickness and ballhandling ability make him a real crowd pleaser. His jump shot is feathery soft and surprisingly consistent. His frame is pretty slight, and he does shy away from contact at times in the lane, resulting in missed shots. This, along with his height may limit his NBA potential.

At 6’0” it may be a reach to call this kid a legit NBA prospect, but when taking a closer look, his feet are enormous, suggesting that he will continue to grow into the type of PG that can make it in the league. With his body type, you have to be 6’2” to really thrive in the NBA. Harrow is blessed with solid leaping ability, creativity with floaters and creative shooting angles, and the ability to see the floor and dish the ball out. He still needs work on managing a team, and tempering his shot selection, but this kid is a PG – not a combo guard. He just needs time and coaching. In most years he’d be considered an afterthought, but in this weak senior class he’s a potential McDonald’s All-American.

more Harrow - Cothron analysis

Quote :
"*Ryan Harrow (Walton, Marietta, Ga.): The six-foot point guard had the most impressive performance of any perimeter player in the first three days of evaluation in the Atlanta Celtics J-Smoov's one-point victory over Pump N Run Elite. Harrow led the way with a game-high 27 points. He displayed a great first step and the ability to finish lower percentage shots near the rim, including a wicked tear drop high off glass. He also can finish clutch plays and has the innate ability to keeps his dribble alive in tight space in or near the key, which is not easy for any guard to do at any level.

*Luke Cothron (McDonald, Red Springs, N.C.): There were some great games at the Adidas Super 64 on Thursday, with the best being a 93-92 victory by the Atlanta Celtics J-Smoov over Pump N Run Elite. Cothron has crafty moves and could be a potential pro if he plays hard and to his potential on a consistent basis. He was on his game against Pump N Run, finishing with 16 points and showing good anticipation skills on the defensive end. He even blocked a potential game-winning shot in the closing seconds to cap his fine all-around effort. Atlanta Celtics teammate Trae Golden (McEachern, Powder Springs, Ga.) added 20 points. Golden is a talented high school player, but his ceiling for potential improvement remains to be seen."

Harrow had 21 points and 10 assists in the first playoff win over Utah Pump N' Run.

He also had 36 and eight assists in a win over The Playaz and 4-star PG Isaiah Epps.

Today he is going against the team with 5-star PG Joe Jackson.

I hate to be a negative nancy here, but realistically speaking, this is a pipe dream, although you did qualify your statement as an irrational feeling. We already know we finished in the bottom of the conference all three years Lowe has been "coaching." We lose 3 multi-year starters and bring in some freshman, and I just don't see how we are going to be any better. Hope you are right though, it would be nothing short of a miracle to finish in the middle 3rd of the ACC. Our program has just been in a downward spiral the past few years, no real logical reason to get any hopes up for next season.

^You gotta take chemistry into account!!!!!!

Seriously, even without Brown , this is an impressive incoming class. Howell, Painter, and Wood should all make an impact, hopefully earlier rather than later. Davis and Vandenburg might contribute too. I'm optimistic about the future of these freshmen and looking forward to watching them progress.

I think loosing Fells, McCauley, and Costner were positives for the program. Sounds like the group has a new mentality and while we may not be No.1, sounds like we have guys who will never give up and that's all I can ask for.

then 2 games later

Well, they will certainly get their minutes...

As far as this year. 4-12 and anything better is gravy. Gonna be another long year. Seriously, if you look at the talent/experience we have I can't see a finish better than 10th this year, even in a down ACC.

I'm generally pretty optimistic but you have to be rational too... It's a throw away year before the big one.

First off, until they get on the court and start playing you have no idea their mentality. Just because you've read a few articles, or seen some high school play doesn't mean anything yet, I hope you are right but lets just wait and see. Second, you say that now, but if they play their ass off and lose every game you won't be happy. More so, you will equate losing to their effort(as people did with the previous group) and you won't be content if they "just don't give up."

That's why I said 'sounds like', not I'm positive or I know. Secondly, I can fully assure that when we lost basketball games (or other teams I follow that have terrible seasons) I didn't become unhappy. I don't stop watching games because of it. It doesn't bother me. I just want to see the group work hard.

I'm sorry it bothers you that someone else can look forward to basketball season.

So does Ingram have a conditional offer or not? The only thing that would make room is if a similar player (Thomas?) will free up a scholarship.
