but im still feeling shaky on recruiting going into next season...
what if Cat gets injured? we have zero depth at PG after him...
what if KW transfers? suddenly we are very thin in frontcourt...

has anyone heard Gott or staff speak on their stance for recruiting this year? e.g. - why we havent at least locked up some depth at thin positions

Lock up the performance in the ACCT and NCAAT, and we shouldn't have a problem with recruiting.

Not that you're wrong...but that's the same situation we were in this year. Lee was nothing close to being a serviceable PG. Lacey can move over to the point if he has to.

We do have Terry Henderson eligible next year. And I don't have any #sources but I'd be surprised if Gott didn't add a transfer, grad student transfer, or late recruit. He's done that every year IIRC. Turner, Alex Johnson, Lacey, Henderson were all transfers. And Freeman was a late addition to the recruiting class. Kinda a late bloomer.

Not that the lack of any incoming recruits isn't some thing to be concerned about. But I don't think its a matter of losing momentum on the recruiting trail or anything like that. I think it has more to do with the in state class not being great (outside of a few players, of course) and since we don't lose a ton, my guess is Gott is ok with not "wasting" a scholly on a player he may not be sold on.

I'll be shocked if that happen this year. He has improved a lot, but still has some ways to go if he wants to start on a NBA roster.

recruiting is less of a concern than normal. assuming no transfers, we pretty much have our team. to your point on PG, ever heard of a dude named Trevor Lacey? Henderson could see time time at point too. Lastly, we're far from thin on our front court. If you haven't noticed, KW hasn't been playing very much lately.

The only thing I have a problem with is, if cat keeps getting better and leaves, I'd rather have a sophomore with a little bit of experience. There's not many minutes for next year though so I get a top recruit not wanting to sit at a not top program.

That being said maybe he can pull a grad transfer or something to bridge a gap

I think what Gottfried has done since coming here has been pretty commendable and I don't get the whole +whatever, but he's pretty credible. I'm not sure we could do better at this point.

It'd be nice if we could move from the 8-12 seed range in the NCAAs and become a consistent top-25 team, but that's tough for any program. I'm still hopeful he can build towards that.

He's at least bought one off year from me before I call for his job.

We played 37 games in 1951 for example. Sure there might be more preseason tournaments and the potential to play more ACC tourney games nowadays, but it's impressive nonetheless.

I was bored at work and wanted to see just how bad things have been. From 1953-1974, we had 8 ACC tournament titles. From 1975-1987, we had 2. From 1988-current, 0. Though, we are still in 3rd place overall. Clemson was a founding ACC member and has 0 titles. Wake has 4 and UVA has 2.

One thing that bothers me with Gott is how we absolutely cannot press other teams. In all of our blow out losses this year, there were situations when we should have been running a suicidal type press, but instead it's pretty much contest the inbound pass and then go to man to man once the ball is in play.
