Ah, cool. Thanks for the correction. It was a little silly to say you could use a 5.5" 357 but not a 4" 454. 2/17/2012 11:58:52 AM |

yeah, all the old restrictions were really stupid. amazing how many folks still don't realize that there aren't any caliber restrictions on rifles either. 2/17/2012 12:16:18 PM |

I've shot the S&W 686 in 4 inch and 6 inch. Sight acquisition is was excellent on both. I'd like to shoot the GP100 before I make a decision, but there's a six inch S&W for a pretty decent price on armslist that I may jump on.
I never considered purchasing a revolver. I thought they were dated. 15 minutes at the range and I ate my words. 2/18/2012 8:13:48 AM |

OK I have a dilemma..Last month I put a new slide on my Rock Island 1911, Love the slide I put on it has the tactical sites, front and rear cocking serrations, and it was blank sided so I had it laster etched custom.
But it left me with a stock Rock island GI slide, so this weekend I sanded the rollmark off the slide and polished the rest of the slide out so there is no parkerization left on it. What should I do with it? I tossed around the idea of buying a de-milled slide and hacking it up and welding one inch on the front of my slide to build a custom 6 inch long slide, or just having it cerakoted in a contrasting color so I could swap them out.
Right now it is just sitting bare and oiled so it does not rust. 2/19/2012 11:07:57 AM |

Why leave it alone? it is a RIA GI slide. the worst I could have done was mess it up...i think a new stock one is like $135?
it is not like I did anything other than remove the big billboard that said "Rock Island Armory!" my new slide on the gun is currently custom laser etched, so that is not a problem
right ow I am considering buying a frame and building another gun. 2/19/2012 5:00:12 PM |

i have an 870. It's in a safe, hasn't been used in years. it's fully rifled, always planned to replace the barrel with a choke system barrel and use it again. But my Benelli SBE has all but replaced it. maybe i should take it out ] 2/20/2012 1:33:12 PM |

I bought a Mossberg 500 in college after my house got broken into. I didn't fire it often, but it seemed to work for me.
Also, how retarded is the new Mossberg 500 chainsaw?

I shoot at Point Blank Range in Moorsville about every other month. They allow rifle even if it is only 25 yards. I shoot there because I drive through Moorsville on my way to work every day (in Statesville). When I shoot, it is between 300 and 700 rounds.
I also do a 2-day rifle or pistol class every three months or so.
I hate going to Firepower in Matthews, and haven't been in two years. 2/23/2012 3:41:00 PM |

"The Range at Lake Norman" only allows TMJ ammo on their clean side, and will sell you it for an inflated cost. Their 'tactical' side is $25 an hour. No thanks. 2/23/2012 5:59:41 PM |

really? i dont have a membership and pay like $13 an hour.
plus i dont have any guns in any of the calibers they have ammo for. ive seen them make people buy that 'GAS' ammo though-
as long as it isnt magnetic they let me shoot whatever i bring. maybe you need to flirt with the old chicks that work there more?

I've never been there in person. The info I have is based on their website. $13/hr is the clean side, $25/hr is the tactical side. Clean side is TMJ only according to their website. 2/23/2012 9:08:20 PM |
