Butch Davis sounds like my 11 year old sister when he throws other "unnamed" colleges out there as places in worse positions than his college.

"I know I cheated, but look at all those other places, they cheat too!"

When will they learn that pointing fingers doesn't make their infraction look less bad?

hardin is extremely unprofessional in his manner of writing. i know he's a journalist and not a reporter, but if there's any sort of negative slant to provide, he's on it like stink on shit. sure i'm a unc guy, but i felt that way about sid and other acc coaches too.

Boise State gets hit with LOIC for next to nothing

http://www.hawkeyenation.com/forum/general-college-football/28255-boise-state-gets-charged-loic.html

My hopes for Tarmageddon are slightly raised.

^was just coming to post that. The evidence seems pretty compelling that they should get hit pretty hard considering Boise State's infractions.

Still, have to temper the expectations...

^^What was the duration between the investigation ceasing and the punishment being handed down.

BD is sitting pretty these days. Makes me think nothing will come of it due to all of their self-imposed punishments.

I believe all of Boise St's issues they self reported and have self imposed some penalties to the football team. UNC has done nothing of the sort, except that they did report the academic issues.

football was minor, but they had major violations in women's tennis. my question is, WHY? even if they're the best ever, first of all no one gives a fuck, second of all it's not a revenue sport. if you're going to cheat, do it big and try to make some $

They were petty violations. Like the coach gave a player $40 bucks for some groceries or something.

"One of the most respected college broadcasters is Woody Durham, who, for 40 years before recently retiring, was the voice of the North Carolina Tar Heels.

Durham is the father of former Vanderbilt broadcaster Wes Durham, currently the voice of Georgia Tech and the Atlanta Falcons.

Woody is headed for the golf course in hopes of improving his game.

Will Wes replace his father in the North Carolina booth? He was hit with the question when he emceed Tech’s Yellow Jacket caravan on Tuesday.

“It is my hope that I can finish my career in Atlanta at Georgia Tech,’’ Wes Durham told Tech fans.

I would think Wes would want to replace his father, but he seems entrenched in Atlanta, as he also co-hosts a sports talk show with former Atlanta sports writer Tony Barnhart"

I wasn't sure if this should go in this thread or the Inside Carolina thread...but that thread is pretty funny.

They accuse Charles Robinson of speculating and not knowing anything (even though they admit he is an "investigative journalist" not just a hack writer). Their posters seem to know that there will be no letter of inquiry. The funny part is (and I have no idea if Charles Robinson knows anything or not) they are being just as speculative, if not more so, than his article/tweets are.

And then comments like this make me LOL:
Quote :
"I would expect some notice and some penalty. Just a bump in the road. We'll be a better program because of it. We are well on our way to elite program status. These things take time, and we will look back on these years as the building blocks. We prepare our kids better than any other university for life after college football, be it in the NFL or something other than pro sports. Isn't that what college is all about?"

Other than their recruiting success under BD, what leads them to believe they are well on their way to elite status? They've yet to win more than 8 games under BD...and they've had a ton of talent on their teams. And the comment about preparing athletes for life after football better than anyone is ridiculous...no facts/stats to back that up. We could say the same thing about TOB...it's a statement that cannot be backed up with facts.
