according to Rivals USC has another 5star recruit for next year as well from Patterson school although I couldnt find him on scout.com --Davon Jefferson
-I dont think the Smith thing is anything to worry about.. they havnt listed him as a commit but they have written 3 articles about him commiting.. and I wouldnt see why we wouldnt be able to get a player from Mt. Zion if he did as well as has been reported on the SAT. 11/15/2006 11:48:44 PM |

^^yeah if his SAT is high enough, which they say it is, then the school doesn't matter. Basically, if Smith graduates with his GPA where it currently is, the NCAA IS fucking us. I mean its a real high school, there's just some wierd shit about certian classes that they take in place of required ones that dont count for the NCAA (at least thats how I've heard it)...but SAT is the big one here. 11/15/2006 11:53:00 PM |

no, i think the NCAA considers Mt. Zion to be a basketball factory
so we're not getting fucked, we know what we are getting ourselves into before hand 11/15/2006 11:54:02 PM |

According to those sites Mount Zion is cleared for prospects entering college in the fall of 2006, but is subject to further questioning in the future. do CTRL+F and type in Zion for that both links to quickly find it. so hopefully they'll stay that way.

well then as long as the NCAA stays the course, we should be fine, if scores are as indicated
but if not, it is a risk that our coaching staff had to know existed 11/16/2006 12:09:34 AM |

I didnt want mayo really anyways
everyone and their brotehr knows hes only gonna be there for one year then to the NBA.
he didnt even get recruited by USC, he FAXED the coach to tell him he would play there. 11/17/2006 12:36:03 PM |

Yeah, who the fuck would want one year with a freakin awesome player at a position where we are really thin. I cant believe USC is even taking this kid. Wow, they are really in trouble for doing this....who will they get to take his place, especially since they know he's a one and out player and have a head start on recruiting the position. I mean seriously, who would take this kid. 11/17/2006 12:41:12 PM |

He's probably a really good player, but as cocky as he is, he's proly not gonna be a good team player, and most likley wont make them any better of a team

he's the kinda kid you DONT want on a TEAM especially on the college level
hes young, cocky, arrogant and knows he is good...hes gonna want to play every minute and be showcased off, he wont play team ball like you need to play on the college level.
One player can only take you so far, sure you wouldnt mind him for a few years...but its like the Ced situation, hes just gonna leave us worse off than we were.
so on that note, i dont think i would want him on this team. sure maybe, why not...but it would bring down the team.

Him being cocky and a bad player are pretty huge assumptions. How do you know? he may be a great team/individual player like D Wade.
The other point is Brandon Rush's success at kansas. All that kid wanted to do in HS was go into the NBA, but he decided on college for a year and performed very well.
Don't start playing Mayo to be a selfish thug until he gives college a shot. 11/17/2006 1:45:13 PM |

Because he wasn't even recruited by USC, he faxed them to say he was coming. He didn't care whether they offered him, or even if they had a roster spot. He just assumed that they would KILL to have him.11/17/2006 1:48:00 PM |

theres plenty reasons why hes selfish.^
i had that typed and Xed out.
the kid is like TRUST ME IM THAT GOOD YOU NEED ME
for all we know he could be terrible in college, just like that kid at Maryland that was #2 in his high school class after Lebron.

Come to think of it, i think that was the year we didnt have a top 100 recruit with Herb...shows why we suck this year and why Maryland is so good, they should be a sleeper this year with all their depth. 11/17/2006 1:58:19 PM |

he won't base his decision solely on one game, especially the 2nd game of the season against a small-time opponent. if he cared about crowd noise that much he'd wait till later in the season to come. 11/20/2006 10:14:14 PM |

I listened to the game on the radio cause I was driving out of town.
We actually made noise for that game, so you lose since no noise was made during exhibition games.
And if all players based their decision on the crowd, UNC wouldnt get many players b/c their crowds suck, even during ACC games.
And this is possibly the dumbest thing thats been said in a 14 page thread.11/20/2006 10:32:29 PM |

wow didn't mean to start such a FEUD. but the point is this, it was a terrible game to be at as far as the student sections goes. everyone was just kindof standing around, even the fight song hardly got noise. but hey you listened on the radio, you probably know better than i do.
we played well, however, for those of you that can't seem to seperate the gameplay from the noise in the stands. 11/20/2006 10:43:39 PM |

Well, I was there... and like i said, it wasnt that weak of a crowd considering the opponent, and the section i was sitting in wasnt very quiet at all, maybe it was just your section that was bringin' the weak sauce 11/20/2006 10:47:25 PM |
