Page 14 says that the Bobcats would be damn good with Kevin Durant.

But then again, so would any team.

Raymond Felton scored eight of his 22 points in the fourth quarter and Gerald Wallace added 21 points and 16 rebounds to lead the Charlotte Bobcats to a 98-90 victory over the Golden State Warriors on Saturday night. Felton recovered after taking an elbow to the head in the third quarter that forced him to miss about five minutes. His 3-pointer with just over 3 minutes left gave Charlotte an 89-83 lead. He then scored on a twisting, off-balance scoop shot in the lane with just under 2 minutes to go that gave the Bobcats a 94-87 lead."

what do they look to get in a trade?

I'm thinking another slashing/defenisive-minded wing player to spell Wallace, or replace him when he gets hurt (as he inevitably will be at some point this season). Any ideas who might fit this role?

I'd normally think another big, but when Brezec and May get back, they should be alright there.

If im not mistaken we only get there pick if its not in like the top 15, so we want them to finish above the 8 seed in the playoffs.

"A thing alot of people are forgetting is we get Toronto's pick this year as long as they make the playoffs and don't have the worst record of all the teams to do so (top 15 protected)

So a pick somewhere in the 16-20 range could net us a player like Aaron Afflalo, Alondo Tucker, Corey Brewer or Deqaun Cook. Big men will go earlier so there will be lots of good wing players in the middle of the first round."

Robinson will win the dunk contest just because he is short.

But damn I know you all remember that put back dunk he had against us playing for Washington.

That shit was the sickest thing Ive ever seen in person.

AI should have obviously won. He had two best dunks. I understand he's short, but Nate's dunks weren't even that impressive. after 15 tries?

especially after AI did the one from behind the backboard

Why isn't Morrison on the dunk contest list?

On a serious note, the 'Cats are in desperate need of another PF/C to play with Okafor...
We could seriously use a Kevin Durant or Brandan Wright. Hopefully they won't pull a Brandon Roy.

yeah if you are looking long term Center, it has to be Oden... hes a promising big with no knee problems

but really id rather have Durant

like i have said before in this thread, this year in the draft, dont worry about filling a position... draft the BEST player on the board...

high quality centers are the hardest position to come by

Oden could easily follow in the footsteps of Wilt, Kareem, Akeem, Ewing, Robinson, O'Neal

It would be no more pointless than using 2 lottery picks on UNC players. It will get more butts in the seats.

The Celts and Grizz are gonna have worse records than us most likely. Especially if the Grizz unload Pau Gasol in the next two weeks.

I read today that we werent interested in picking up Hodge. (not that it was breaking news, i just saw it today)

After seeing Brandan wright the past few games i realize that i really dont want that guy. He looks like a huge bust to me.

Top 2 pick please.

"Charlotte Bobcats head coach Bernie Bickerstaff said the team has no interest in signing Julius Hodge, who was recently released by the Milwaukee Bucks. Hodge is a former standout at North Carolina State.

"The problem with Julius is he's been hurt a lot," Bickerstaff said. "He just hasn't been on the floor a lot. What he needs to do is get on the floor and play some basketball.""

Mid-season review from SI.com
Quote :
"Charlotte Bobcats
Injuries to Primoz Brezec and Brevin Knight have kept them from putting out their best starting unit much of the season and exposed their lack of depth. Still, victories over the Spurs, Cavs, Pistons, Jazz, Lakers and Nuggets show how tough they can be on any given night.
All-Stars: none."

I cant believe there arent any Bobcats trade rumors

Trading block: Melvin Ely, BK, Primoz, Matt Carroll (try to get some veteran help while their value is high)
Should be traded: ADAM MORRISON

We are going to get one of the top 5 picks in the draft as well as the Toronto pick which should be in the 20's...

Draft best 2 players on the board and sign a Veteran (VC?) who can ball and lets get this shit rolling next season... I getting tired of waiting...

"Bickerstaff's future uncertain
MJ's influence could affect Bobcats coach-GM's tenure
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) -- Portland coach Nate McMillan chuckled when he walked into Charlotte's practice facility last week and saw no chairs or bleachers, items banned by Bobcats coach and general manager Bernie Bickerstaff.

"He hasn't changed," said McMillan, who played under Bickerstaff in Seattle during the 1980s. "We had to stand up and be ready to practice. I was looking at our guys and they were trying to put their sneakers on standing up."

The no-nonsense Bickerstaff has done things his own way since become the expansion team's top basketball man three years ago. But his power was reduced last spring when Michael Jordan became part owner with the final say on all basketball decisions.

Now, with the Bobcats struggling through an inconsistent season and an important summer of free agency ahead, Bickerstaff's future with the organization is uncertain.

While Bickerstaff has declined to talk about next season, several players back him, including rookie Adam Morrison.

"He's the guy who drafted me and believed in me," said Morrison, the No. 3 pick last year. "I think people have to give him a chance, because we're really young. It's tough to count on so many young guys, night in and night out. He's doing a good job with what he's got."

It's hard to gauge where Bickerstaff stands with Jordan, because Jordan hasn't granted an interview in Charlotte since last June. He has intentionally remained out of sight, even telling arena staff not to show him on the video board when he attends home games.

Jordan's contact with the players has also been limited.

"I've talked to him a little bit when he's been around, but other than that, nothing," Morrison said Monday.

While Bickerstaff no longer has the final say on personnel decisions, the moves he has made have allowed the Bobcats to assemble a decent group of young talent.

He pulled off a draft-day trade that allowed Charlotte to select Emeka Okafor. Charlotte has also drafted Raymond Felton and Morrison, and got leading scorer Gerald Wallace in the expansion draft.

Bickerstaff has resisted the temptation to try to win right away, hoarding draft picks and preserving salary cap space while preparing for this summer, when Charlotte will have the most flexibility as any team during free-agency.

"The young kids, they've got to get a chance to play, it's that simple," Bickerstaff said.

But Bickerstaff has sounded increasingly frustrated of late. He's criticized his young players for not spending enough time studying the scouting report. He's questioned the team's discipline, and was furious last Friday when a mental breakdown left Brandon Roy open for a tying 3-pointer in the closing second of regulation, helping McMillan's Trail Blazers to an overtime win.

"You have to deal with the players. You have to be fair, but you've got to have expectations for all of them," Bickerstaff said. "You've got to coach for bad times, and that's why you have to treat everyone fairly."

Bickerstaff was calmer on Monday, suggesting the team's recent rash of injuries is partly responsible for its current four-game losing streak.

"It's an ongoing process where you have to make changes," Bickerstaff said. "Unfortunately, this is where we are."

Bickerstaff's plan before Jordan arrived was to coach the team during the lean, early years, then hire a coach and become the full-time general manager when they became more competitive.

With Jordan now calling the shots, Bickerstaff may not get that chance. But it hasn't changed his style, which took 30 years in the NBA to mold. That means no chairs in the practice gym.

"Once you come to work, you don't sit down," Bickerstaff said. "That's how I think you learn how to fight through fatigue. If you can't fight through fatigue in practice, you're going to go down on us when it's game time.""

Quote :
"Bobcats Acquire Williams In Trade For Ely

The Bobcats have acquired forward Eric Williams, a 2009 second round draft pick and cash consideration from San Antonio in exchange for Melvin Ely. Williams will wear jersey #88 and be in uniform when the team takes on New Orleans/Oklahoma City on Tuesday, February 20.

The 6-8, 250-pound New Jersey native, has appeared in 653 career NBA games (308 starts) and averaged 8.6 points, 3.3 rebounds, 1.4 assists and 24.0 minutes, while shooting .416 from the field, .319 from three-point range and .736 from the free throw line. In 26 career playoff games, he averaged 8.5 points and 3.9 rebounds in 30.7 minutes.

Williams has played for six different teams during his 11 NBA seasons, including two different stints in Boston, and stops in Denver, Cleveland, New Jersey, Toronto and San Antonio. In 16 games with the Spurs this season, he averaged 2.6 points in 5.5 minutes.

“It’s always difficult to part with a player of Melvin’s stature and skill set,” Bobcats General Manager & Head Coach Bernie Bickerstaff said. “At the same time, we’ve acquired another veteran player and a future draft pick, which allows us even more flexibility as we continue to build this franchise and develop our younger players.”

Initially drafted by the Celtics in the first round (14th overall pick) of the 1995 NBA Draft, Williams played two seasons at Providence College, where he averaged a team-high 17.7 points and 6.7 rebounds as a senior. He was also a unanimous First Team All-Big East selection that year.

Ely was acquired by Charlotte from the L.A. Clippers on July 14, 2004 with Eddie House in exchange for the Bobcats 2005 and 2006 second round picks. In 2 ½ seasons with the Bobcats, he averaged 7.5 points, 4.0 rebounds and 20.2 minutes, while shooting .460 from the field. In 24 games this season, he averaged 2.9 points and 1.6 rebounds in 10.2 minutes. "
